This position is based in Fort McMurray, Alberta and is eligible for:

YOUR OPPORTUNITY: 

The Construction Coordinator- Civil/ Structural will be responsible for the safe and efficient coordination of contractors performing installation work and general site services at Horizon. 

As a Construction Coordinator at Canadian Natural you will have the opportunity to work on a wide variety of projects, implementing your expertise to coordinate across the company and create efficiency. Your role will involve supervision of multiple contractors to ensure completion of work within time and budget; and you will gain exposure to working with senior engineers and construction managers on complex, high- value projects. There is ample opportunity for career progression as well as lateral movement and the development of new skills. 

HOW WILL YOU MAKE YOUR MARK 

o Participate in bid reviews and area constructability reviews 

o Review contractor execution methodologies 

o Prepare work scopes for Request For Proposals 

o Review contractor Construction Execution Plans, mechanical work scopes, schedule and manpower loading 

o Review contractor compliance with mod yard shipping requirements 

o Monitor and coordinate contractor work completion schedules 

o Monitor contractor safety and quality compliances 

o Review contractor QC programs and Inspection Test Plans 

o Monitor contractor and construction compliance to CNRL site specific and Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S) procedures 

o Assist with interface coordination between other business unit area coordinators and site contractors 

o Verify construction progress and scope changes to the Construction Manager and construction manager 

o Audit completion of contractor punch- list items 

o Monitor construction compliance to design criteria 

o Review contractor material procurement supply timelines to ensure availability of materials 

o Attend contractor safety meetings and tool box talks 

o Identify areas where corrective action is required, identify deficiencies and coordinate rework to ensure schedule, specifications, procedures, company objectives and construction management best practices are adhered to 

o Implement work improvement strategies 

o Work with Superintendent and contractor to avoid or mitigate all significant risks and assist with contingency plan for other risks which cannot be effectively mitigated 

QUALIFICATIONS: 

o Typically 10+ years of related industry experience with a related Degree, Diploma or Journeyman Certificate 

o Familiarity with and understanding of: o Rigging medium and light steel o Erection of structural steel, including heavy, medium and light steel o Fabrication and Mods o Working in the field of an oil sands environment o Working in a Construction Coordinator role
