Taylor Sterling has been instructed to find a Western Engineering Manager. This is a highly specialised role, so please read the job description carefully before applying. 

This role includes the management of approx. 18 direct reports, all of which will be electronic repair engineers who specialise in the repair of industrial electronic products such as PLC systems, controllers and general miscellaneous PCB’s and equipment.

The management role will include PADR’s, recruitment, disciplinaries, team talks and general employee welfare meetings etc.

In addition to the management of direct reports this role is responsible for the daily running of the workshop including:-
• Progressing repairs through the system
• Ensuring on time delivery targets are met
• Workmanship quality is to the required company standard
• Becoming technically involved when required in order to make decisions with regard to repairs
• Analyse the production data to make changes when needed
• Warranty returns KPI’s targets are achieved
• Be involved in all areas of workshop health and safety
• Manage additional projects as and when required. 

Skills
Technical Understanding - PLC systems, and a very good knowledge of general electronic components and circuits boards.
Data Analysis skills - Able to interpret data by spotting trends and patterns, familiar with graphs etc.
Microsoft Office skills - Able to produce graphs, VLOOKUP tables etc. in Excel
Project Management - Able to design and write basic project plans for around the workshop and manage these projects through to completion.
Even temperament – This is at times a high pressure role when quick decisions on priority orders etc. will need to be made whilst maintaining a calm professional attitude.
Multi-tasking – A highly varied role requiring the ability to juggle emails, phone calls and internal queries.
Public Speaking - Able to present news in meetings, teleconference calls and inter departmental meetings. Also required to have technical discussions with customers by phone/face to face with customers.

Job Tasks
Day to day management decisions of the workshop - Assigning jobs, assessing RNRs, liaising with customers regarding progress of jobs.
Co-ordinating the Site Engineering Team - Liaising with customers, assessing and identifying the system and fault from the customer, coordinating site jobs for engineers.
LLA – Coordinating global training via the SAP system
Workshop Health and Safety – Liaising with the Health and Safety team to implement and communicate health and safety changes with the workshop.
Training – to assist and organise technical training of the workshop (e.g. Introduction to PLC course for engineers) and to train sales and marketing on the industry (e.g. what is a CNC machine, what is a PLC, what control systems we support, what PLC systems we support etc) 
Marketing liaison- to provide updates to marketing team to ensure our literature (website, brochure, flyers) are up to date with the latest innovations the workshop has made.
IT Liaison – to provide design specifications for modifications to IT platforms that engineering uses, e.g. service reports platform, site service reports.
