Building on our relationship with a highly successful exotic vegetable exporting company in Kenya, the recruitment specialist Millar Cameron has initiated a search for a Farm Manager to join this company’s operations. They are one the leading exporters of quality vegetables and soft fruits, and supply the European industry. They value sustainability in their growing methods and provide the livelihood of local farmers and outgrowers. This is an opportunity to join a stable operation in the highly unique Kenyan Horticulture environment. 

The new Farm Manager would be responsible for:
• Handling a 15 ha/week planting program and handle more than 20TN/volume per day of harvest
• Managing an exotic vegetable farm, comprising of runner beans, baby vegetables, chilies etc. 
• Overseeing the spraying program, Crop Quality and seed program.
• Planning the finance and production, and stick to budget parameters. 
• Ensure that all crops comply with international export standards and Kenyan Government regulations
• Upholding health and safety standards, whilst protesting the environment and biodiversity
• Planning the training activities, and perform practical farming activities, such as being on the farm and arranging the maintenance of all buildings, machinery and equipment
• Report to the General Manager and Group Human Resources Manager with the farm’s KPI’s

The ideal candidate for this position would:
• be educated up to a degree level or equivalent in a relevant field
• Have a good knowledge of irrigation systems
• Have a proven history in a horticulture field, with knowledge of BASIS and FACTS regulations
• Ideally has previous history of working in Africa, but a willingness to experience that for the first time is also highly desired

5+ years experience
