The MEP Engineer is responsible for all aspects of mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing.
As part of the Jacobs PMC Contract for the Doha Metro Red Line project, the Jacobs Engineering team are responsible for strategy, implementation, administration and validation of Contractors design submissions.
As such we require skilled MEP Engineers to join our team based in Doha.
Primary responsibilities
Undertake MEP Assurance and Validation reviews of the Contractors design submissions against the Employers Requirements at various stages of development from concept through detailed design stages to meet the project programme.
Review the coordination of MEP services with Architecture and Civils/Structures.
Review the coordination of MEP services with the requirements of the Rail Systems Contractor
Drive and facilitate design & integration workshops with the Contractor to ensure high quality, timely design submissions
Provide MEP guidance to the Jacobs project team and the Client.
Provide input & guidance to the Contractor as required relating to the design of MEP systems & selection of MEP equipment to meet the expected levels of technical excellence on a world class project.
Provide technical support as required to the Jacobs Construction team
Qualifications & experience
Ideally a Chartered Engineer, degree qualified in a related engineering discipline, with a minimum of 10 years post graduate MEP design experience.
Experience to include; Underground Metro / Rail and major transportation infrastructure projects.
Experience of MEP construction works along with testing and commissioning of MEP equipment related to a Metro / Rail environment would be ideal. Familiar with the appropriate local, European and American codes & standards QCS, EN, NFPA, IEC, ANSI, etc and their application in the underground Metro environment. Although the rail systems form part of a separate contract, a “working knowledge” of rail systems such as traction power, signalling, communication, tunnel ventilation, etc. would be desirable.
Experienced in Underground Metro / Rail MEP systems.

o Earthing / bonding & EMC
o Lightning Protection
o Electrical calculations, lighting, cables etc.
o Mechanical and Public Health calculations
o Combined services and delivery routes
o Lighting and small power distribution
o Fire suppression & detection
o UPS & SCADA systems
o Station and tunnel ventilation
o HVAC systems, ducting and venting
o Services, plumbing supply and waste lines, fixtures, and valves.
Ability to work collaboratively with Lead contractor, Designer, and Specialist suppliers.
Ability to Work Effectively in an Integrated Design Environment
Ability to propose MEP cost reduction alternatives
MEP Supply-Chain Knowledge Familiarity with Autodesk BIM products such as Revit, Navisworks and 360 Glue is desirable.
