- PURPOSE
- Operate the Ship Crane safely according to the received instructions / information from the GC Controllers and the Vessel Superintendent in all the crane activities (Discharge, load, Re-Stow, Etc.).
- Work as a signalman for GC and CT vessel crane operation.
- Keep the equipment clean and Tidy.
- Ensure cargo is loaded and discharged in a safe and fast way, and handled with care according to the agreed plans.
- Ensure achieving all agreed targets productivity for all GC vessels with Zero Accident.
- Operate the crane according to the GC Controller and the superintendent instruction.
- Work as a signalman for GC and CT vessel crane operation.
- Inspects equipment at beginning of shift to ensure that all of the parts are operating properly.
- Identifies and reports any safety problems, malfunctions, or damage to crane equipment & containers/cargo, before, during or after the shift.
- Follows safe operating procedures and instructions, preventing any injury to persons, or damage to containers and other equipment and property.
- Achieve the agreed productivity targets for all vessels.
- Ensure that the cargo successfully Un-lashed before handling and successfully landed after loading.
- Handle the cargo with care (Avoid Rough handling on Vessels or On Trucks).
- Park/Gantry the crane according to the GC controller and the GC Superintendent instruction.
- Report all the defects noticed to GC Controller and GC superintendent.
- Cranes functions should be checked before receiving the crane after Repair or Maintenance to make sure that all the functions are working properly.
- Act as a good team player and to be positive regarding the all issues events around him and sharing the all details which will assist / support and improve the daily work procedures and his equipment performance overall. Maintain good relations and be cooperative with all involved in his business environment
- Physically fit and pass all the Medical examinations required.
- Good sense of depth perception and able to work at heights.
- Good eye sight (No colour blindness)and good hand eye coordination.
- Active and enthusiastic.
- Ability to work as an effective team member and adhere to operational plans to achieve maximum productivity.
- Ability to work under pressure and stress.
- Requires at least three or more years of equipment handling or similar work experience in a commercial port environment, or other operator experience that demonstrates an ability to follow instructions and work safely.
- Requires expertise in container and cargo handling activities, developed over a period of time.
- Must have complete understanding of operating advanced container gantry cranes.
- Must have a good understanding of container terminal operations, including vessel movements and other yard handling equipment.
- Must have a heavy duty drivers license issued by the local authority, and licenses to operate vessel crane.
- Demonstrates ability to operate at minimum specified average crane productivity moves per hour.
- Requires basic English language skills (numbers, radio and communication instructions).
- Has knowledge of different types of cranes, vessels and containers.
- Understands safety regulations, safe working procedures and safe materials handling procedures and follows safety and work instructions.
- Has the ability to communicate operational instructions and information via two way radio system.
- Understands common used hand signals to communicate without radio system when needed.
- Must be able to work in extremely hot and dusty conditions, and occasionally, conditions of high levels of noise.
