PURPOSE
Carryout rigging operation for materials to be lifted by cranes and lifting devices as required in the offshore WHPTs and other locations. Perform rigging of equipment and materials for mechanical or manual lifting and/or moving.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
a) Achieve rigging operation related to maintenance work involving heavy and delicate lifts as well as handling of irregular shapes.
b) Serve and maintain and keep in good condition the rigging equipment (slings, shackles, chain blocks, pull lifts, etc) to ensure that these devices are safe to use at their designed capacity.
c) Communicate efficiently with crane operator using either conventional hand signs or communications headsets.
d) To understand and follow instructions from Sr. Tech/Foreman and Barge Engineer also understand requirements of supervisors of other trades.
e) Able to demonstrate a working knowledge of equipment S.W.L and W.L.L and be able to explain the difference.
f) Able to recognize common defects in lifting equipment and when and when not to use them.
g) To be conversant with internationally used symbols on lifting equipment and their differences, Example|: Ton, Tonne, Ton US, US Ton, Pounds, lbs, kgs.
h) Able to demonstrate that he can accurately calculate the weights and size of loads to select appropriate slings and lifting equipment.
a) Secondary school level.
b) 10 years in rigging work with his last 5 years within offshore oil installations.
c) Should be fully familiar with different types of lifting gear and fittings, aware of safety practices related to material handling work
