Practicing engineering and/or construction disputes lawyer (solicitor/barrister) with 7 to 10 years of experience in handling lawyers from London and UAE
We are looking for a practicing engineering and/or construction disputes lawyer (solicitor/barrister) who will be responsible for working with our Oil and Gas and Renewables and other projects to resolve claims and disputes cost-effectively, find commercially focused solutions and achieve successful outcomes in various global jurisdictions.
The principal locations of our lawyers are London, Aberdeen and the UAE. In support of a centralized legal function, the successful candidate may be asked to remotely support other parts of the business globally from time to time
Applicants will have solid engineering and/or construction international litigation experience, be well versed in arbitral and/or court procedures, ADR, mediation, expert determination, and be comfortable dealing with and resolving conflict and have strong people skills.
Provide commercially focussed, pragmatic legal advice to clients bidding and projects in global jurisidictions (working with local lawyers as appropriate), including Operations, BD, HR, M&A, Treasury, Finance, Co Sec, Compliance
Help lead project teams and commercial and other functions in analysing construction claims and legal disputes, both progressing and defending them, provide advice and options, facilitate and implement resolution and draft settlements, in each case with multiple parties and partners, subcontractors, suppliers and clients.
Provide support to other parts of the legal function in an effort to help the business identify, exclude, mitigate and manage contractual, legal and other commercial risks through entire life cycle of EPC(M), E&C, consultancy, engineering and other contracts.
Provide support to other parts of the legal function if required in the drafting and negotiation of contracts with clients, JV partners, subcontractors, and suppliers, including confidentiality agreements, MoUs, heads of terms, consortium agreements, and joint-venture agreements.
- Professionally qualified lawyer (solicitor/barrister) with a UK or equivalent (and current) practising certificate.
- 7-10 years PQE
- Some private practice background (in a litigation department), with in-house experience (with litigation as a core part of your role), preferred.
- Experience in construction and engineering disputes is essential.
