HSE Manager in Mercator Ltd, Nigeria

Provide sound advice to the project teams, field staff and contractors in the implementation of Companys HSSE policies and management system for continuous improvement. 

Primary responsibilities include: 
• To assist line in implementing HSSE policies, HSSE MS and procedures through training and advice. 
• Visit sites on a regular basis to ensure compliance with HSSE policies and HSSE MS. 
• Promote safe working systems. Monitor and advice on proper application of permit to work system, participating in actual job watch where necessary.
• To provide Hazard and Risk management support. 
• To manage the implementation of the annual HSSE Plan and monitor progress against the Plan. 
• Prepare annual plan and conduct site specific HSSE audits and inspections. 
• Prepare annual HSSE internal training plan and imparting training to target groups.
• Facilitation of external HSSE training.
• To provide advice and support on emergency response issues including training. 
• Support medical staff in effective implementation of health and hygiene programme. 
• Maintain and update legal register and ensure compliance through annual audit. 
• Advice line on incident reporting, investigation and follow-up.
• Develop and implement safety initiatives for continuous improvement.
• Preparation & implementation of the environmental monitoring plan.
• Prepare and maintain HSSE related data bases and monthly HSSE reports. 
• Regular training of site HSSE staff for competency enhancement.
• Support and participate in task(s) as advised by Head of HSSE and line Managers.
• 
  
• Experience of working in Oil & Gas or Petroleum related industry. Offshore working experience is an advantage.
• Hands on experience either in operations, maintenance, projects or HSSE. 
• Knowledge and application of internationally recognized HSSE management systems
• Recognized training in Safety or Risk management.
• Sound knowledge of oil industry regulations and compliance requirements
• Knowledge of work processes and risks of offshore oil and gas activities and operations is desirable. 
• Good verbal and written English skills 
• Should be willing to relocate.
• Cross Cultural sensitivity.
