POSITIONS: General CNC Operator

EXPERIENCE :  Machinist with a minimum of 4 years machine shop experience.Experience with CAD/CAM, drawing parts and downloading of cam files to the CNC machines is desireable.

QUALIFICATION: Formal CNC machinist certification or apprenticeship program is preferred.  

JOB RESPONSIBILITY:

Planning, Machining and Inspection

• Work closely with your technical peers and supervisor in planning and optimization resource allocation.
• Ensure prompt translation of technical drawings, sketches and other requirements such as verbal.  
• Performs CNC machine set-up for specific programs and selects the proper tooling as per job requirements and instructional data.
• Ensure accuracy of parts using appropriate measuring tools and taking corrective action to rectify errors by offset adjustment, tooling changes or other corrective measures, on the CNC machines.
• Undertake set-up and co-inspection processes with other team members as needed.

Operations and Safety

• Working safely at all times, complying with Health and Safety policies and other relevant regulations, procedures and guidelines.
• Promptly notifies appropriate personnel of potential safety hazards.
• Manage and track user Job requests or other operational data such as tools and materials inventory.
• Report and manage machine issues or non-compliances that compromise part quality and/or shop safety.

Competencies

• Proficient knowledge in setting and operating CNC mills and lathe machines.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings with practical translation to machining and finishing.
• Solid understanding of geometric dimensioning and tolerances.
• Knowledge of CAD/CAM is a distinct advantage.
• Working knowledge of precision measuring instruments.
• Demonstrable knowledge of other workshop methods and ability with various machine tools

Position : Assistant Glassblower

Qualification : 5 years of glass shop experience.

Experience : Any equivalent combination of experience, training and/or education 

Major Responsibilities

• Ability to fabricate laboratory glassware vacuum systems.
• Consults with supervisor regarding design specifications.
• Maintains, repairs or replaces glassware on existing equipment.
• Demonstrates ability to follow instruction.
• Ability to use equipment to increase production capabilities including fixtures and holders, burners and mounting hardware and safety equipment.
• Performs routine maintenance and upkeep of glass containing apparatuses.
• Demonstrate ability to work with glass and quartz.

Competencies

• Knowledge of glassware relating to the sciences.  i.e. Chemistry and Physics.
• Skill in applying scientific glassblowing techniques.
• Ability to understand processes to produce new or improved devices or equipment.

Position : CNC EDM Machinist

Experience : Minimum 7 years of experience as a machinist in mechanical 

Qualification : Formal CNC EDM machinist certification preferred.

Job Responsibilities :

• EDM machines set-up to specific programs and tooling needs as per job schedules and instructional data.
• Ensure accuracy of parts using appropriate measurement tools and taking corrective action to rectify errors by offset adjustment, or other means, on the EDM machines.

Competencies

• Extensive experience in setting and operating Mitsubishi CNC EDM (wire and plunge) machines and having Multi-Axis CNC CAD/CAM experience as highly advantageous.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings with practical translation to machining and finishing.
• Solid understanding of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GDT).
• Proficiency with Solid works and GIBBSCAM a distinct advantage.
• Working knowledge of measurement techniques and equipment e.g. vernier, micrometer, etc.
• Experience of programming and operating co-ordinate measuring machines (CMM's) an advantage.
• Demonstrable knowledge of other workshop methods and ability with various machine tool
