QA/QC Electrical and Instrumentation Inspector

Job Description:-
In this position one will be responsible for performing Quality Control for electrical and instrumentation activity and related inspection, at various locations of projects. The governing criteria will be Client specifications/scope of work/codes/standards and approved ITP/documented procedures.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform all QC functions on miscellaneous electrical and instrumentation activities.
  • Deal with reviewing of all ITP's/QCP/Method Statement/ Material Approval prior for project plan preparation.
  • Informing client inspector on the activities ready for inspection (RFI), as per ITP requirements.
  • Ensuring that all monitoring and measuring devices are in calibrated condition, before making any measurements.
  • Coordinate with Construction Supervisor project plan drawing review-having AFC drawing officially approved documentation.
  • Represent Company during weekly meeting concerning schedule plan activity and project plan on all tools and equipment needed for construction.
  • Review all Subcontractor Technical Documentation Circulation prior approval to all concerned lead official.

  • Ensure instrument equipment works complied with project specifications, company procedures, method statements and quality assurance and controls documentation.
  • Supervise and monitoring the flow of inspection on-site and calibration prior to meet the project deadline.
  • Monitor all subcontractor activity priors for deadline start of Instrumentation Workload.
  • Analyze every area to be survey and witness prior for RFI to be offered to the client for inspection.
  • Witness repair and calibration of instrumentation, commissioning of the following equipment: Smart Flow, pressure, temperature, level transmitters, different control valves, pressure gauges and Fire & Gas alarms.
  • Analogue and digital controllers Fire & Gas detection/protection systems,
  • ESD (Emergency shutdown), Pneumatic and hydraulic shutdown panels and control systems.
  • Project Duties included review of loop folders for final acceptance by the QA/QC Dept. before transferring to Commissioning.
  • Inspection of vendor skids before final acceptance by client.

  • On-site audits.
  • Follow all safety practices and procedures and corrected unsafe work practices
  • Fully conversant with relevant International (ANSI, ASTM, API, BSI, IP, ISO, IEC, IEEE etc.) standards
  • To possess required set of skills, knowledge, expertise, work experience, qualifications and educational degrees/professional certifications, as required to perform the job effectively.
  • To attend the pass client interview/testing prior to being assigned to a work site, if it is a job requirement.
  • To ensure that all works are in compliance with the requirements of Client specifications/scope of work/codes/standards and approved ITP/documented procedures.
  • To perform duties of an Inspector and implement International codes & standards requirements plus client specifications and their requirements.
  • To motivate & co-ordinate other personnel into achieving quality accepted targets & liaise with clients & their representatives plus other department personnel E/I inspection for Projects.

  • To report any non-conforming items of work in inspection logbooks and informing direct supervisors without delay.
  • To resolve quality related problems and implementing the root cause/CA/PA analysis and documentation.
  • To perform duties in the KSA & Overseas (both offshore / onshore), as required by Company and dictated by contract.
  • To do monitoring & supervising of cable splicer performance qualification tests.
  • To prepare and submit all quality related reports in time, to direct supervisor.
  • To supervise and control the work for multi disciplined / national workforces (supervising other Inspectors, if instructed and authorized by Company)
  • To implement safety & QMS Procedures, documentation, record keeping.
  • To make work log with computerized systems, percentage design / plus product completion reviews & sign off.
     
Education Skills and Experience:

  • Individuals filling this position should have a minimum of seven (7) years of relevant industrial experience in the same discipline (five [5] years of relevant industrial experience for engineers degreed in the same discipline), be a High School graduate, or equivalent, be fully conversant with applicable Industry Standards and Specifications, be able to perform a variety of complex inspection functions with minimal supervision, and be able to demonstrate a thorough working knowledge of the National Electric Code/NFPA 70, or equivalent standards.  They should also have working knowledge of electrical installations including materials, methods, specifications, and hazardous location identification for oil and gas or petrochemical industries.  They should also have applicable working knowledge of instrument installations including materials, methods, specifications, and P&IDs for oil and gas or petrochemical industries in accordance with international standards.

  • Exp.installation of all instruments & control equipment:
    - Supervision / consultant C & I subcontractors
    - DCS, PLC- System installation
    - Configuration and loop test
    - Pre-commissioning, commissioning, start-up
    - Maintenance, planning
    - QA / QC activity

  • Inspector shall have three (3) years documented experience in the field of instrumentation and control systems. He shall be familiar with the international Industry Codes and Standards related to Intrinsically Safe Systems and Electrical Systems for Instrumentation such as; ISA RP12.6, ISA RP12.2.02, ISA TR12., ANSI MC96.1, IEEE 518, IEEE 1100, IEC 60529, NEMA ICS 6, NEMA 250, NEMA VE 1, NEMA VE 2, NFPA 70/NEC and UL 94. As a minimum, he shall be able to inspect complete loop checking, wiring continuity, color coding, and start up. When required, he shall be able to evaluate Factory Acceptance Test and demonstrate a thorough working knowledge of international codes and standards related to packaged units instrumentation such as, Distributed Control System (DCS), Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) Systems, Remote Terminal Unit, and Emergency Shutdown (ESD) systems.

Additional Requirements Include:
  • Sound knowledge of best practices of the constructions and discipline functions.
  • Must have experience with QA/QC functions and E/I inspection
  • ISO – 9001-2008 knowledge and quality auditing experience.
  • Candidates should have experience working with onshore/offshore construction inspection.
  • Good computer skills
  • High standard of written and spoken English.
