Imports and Exports Manager for Jeddah, Saudi Arabia‏

The company is a Diversified Saudi Arabian Conglomerate offering comprehensive, customer-centric solutions in industries including construction, mining, oil & gas, agriculture, power, electricity & water generation, material handling, building materials, transportation & logistics, real estate development, travel & tourism, waste management & recycling, and hospitality.
The Company incorporated in 1967 deals with international brands in Machinery & Equipment, Tractors, Buses, Cranes, Asphalt Pavers, Compressors, Pumps, Hammers, Trucks and Lifts.
As a Manager Imports & Exports, your responsibilities include the following:
  • Effectively and efficiently manage the movement of products/equipment/materials in and/or out of KSA in accordance with organizational policy and procedures, and to comply with relevant local, country and international law and processes.
  • Manage relationships with shipping lines, airlines, transport companies, shipping agencies, freight forwarding companies, etc. and negotiate their rates, contract terms facilities and services and ensure best value.
  • Develop effective and constructive solutions to challenges and obstacles in import/export activities and procedures.
  • Manage the necessary documentation and online forms for the efficient and cost-effective execution of all import/export activities.
  • Plan and implement import/export strategy and activities consistent with overall aims and requirements of the organization.
  • Ensure 100% coverage of all risks & Demurrage-free clearance of all goods
  • Quantifiable economy and measurable efficiency achieved through selection of best transport means and routes
  • Adherence to the organization’s policies and procedures, KSA and international laws and processes
  • Communicate with export and import and related authorities, and customers and suppliers, in all relevant territories and countries, as necessary to ensure efficient andpositive relations, support and activities.
  • Liaise with other departments in order to establish and maintain effective and relevant export/import activities and support in relation to the organization’s sales, purchasing, materials management, and overall operating functions.
  • Manage and maintain effective insurance provisions relating to import/export activities.
  • Manage all staff reporting to the position so as to effectively recruit, train, evaluate, motivate, delegate and monitor their activities.
  • Use personal initiative to develop effective and constructive solutions to challenges and obstacles in import/export activity and procedures.
  • Maintain personal ability in, and appropriate use of all relevant Information & communications technology and other systems within the import/export function.
  • Maintain and share with colleagues as appropriate, personal knowledge of all relevant import/export law and procedures; tariffs and duties; licenses and restrictions.
  • Anticipate research and report on future changes in import/export laws and in relevant local territory practices, and ensure such knowledge is factored into the planning of the department’s own strategy, resources and procedures.
  • Monitor, record, analyze and report on activities, trends, results and recommendations relating to import/export activities.
  • Prepare and submit all necessary documentation in a timely and accurate manner – shipping schedules; letters of credit, credit control mechanisms; licenses; declarations; packing, routing, transport and safety documentation.
  • Investigate, plan and implement strategically effective and relevant transport methods, which meet optimally the needs of the organization and its suppliers and customers.
  • Plan and manage the effective and necessary conversion of weights, sizes, values, and quality standards interpretations between importing and exporting systems and territories.
  • Negotiate contracts for sales/purchases and manage renew, review contracts as required to enable effective trading, operations and customer/supplier relations.
Desired candidate Profile
  • MBA / Post Graduate in Foreign Trade or Import Export with 10 to 15 years in imports and exports, of which at least 5 years experience in a senior role with a large import / export department, shipping line logistics or freight forwarder
  • Good Leadership skills & Proven experience of successful liaison with Directors, Departmental Heads, Forwarders, Shipping Companies, Customs Brokers, Insurance Companies & Local Transporters
  • In depth knowledge and application of Import/Export procedures
  • Ability to meet demanding deadlines
  • Excellent analytical and problem solving
  • Sound knowledge of world Geography with attention to detail
  • Flexibility and willingness to efficiently handle the personal shipment clearance for Executives
  • Ability to work under pressure, multi-task and effectively meet deadlines
  • Superb organizational and prioritization skills
  • Strong focus on customer service
  • Willing to work extra hours
