1. BASIC FUNCTIONS
1.1 Involves in assessing the work of all Housekeeping personnel engaged in maintaining the hospital in a clean, safe and orderly condition. Make inspections to evaluate the effectiveness of the department. Plans and conducts monthly in service programs to enhance each employees knowledge of their duties. Carries out the New Employee Orientation Program.Other supervision and research as requested by the department Director.
2. PRINCIPAL DUTIES
2.1 Understands and is able to supervise all phases of the Support Services Department and does so as assigned.
2.2 Orients and provides the required information to each new employee on their first day of work prior to assignment.
2.3 Able to operate all machinery involved in the department.
2.4 Observes the quality of work and advises departmental employees of conditions which do not meet standards.
2.5 Plans, organizes and carries out monthly in-service training for
employees in all positions.
2.6 Submits written evaluation of trainees at the end of the training period.
2.7 Carries out monthly inspection, of all areas of the hospital and
maintains a graph of the Departmental Quality of Services.
2.8 During inspections, observes and reports the need for any building repairs to the appropriate department.
2.9 Enforces Hospital and Departmental Rules and Regulations and recommends disciplinary action to the appropriate Shift Supervisor.
2.10 Monitors Safety and Security practices of all department personnel.
2.11 Handles service complaints
2.12 Makes daily report to the Director of Support Services.
2.13 Performs minor maintenance and repairs to equipment.
2.14 Makes routine daily inspections of Discharge/Transfer cleaned rooms 2.15 Conducts at least one patient interview on a weekly basis.
2.16 Organizes, plans and carries out a scheduled Floor Maintenance Program which includes all areas of the Hospital.
2.17 Conducts weekly inspections on the hospital grounds.
2.18 Schedule and work two evening shifts per month in order to be more in tune with your subordinates, their problems, work habits, etc.
2.19 Reviews time and attendance sheets daily for accuracy.
2.20 Approves Annual Leave and other time off and ensures the work schedule is updated accordingly.
2.21 Schedules and carries out the Pest Control Program.
2.22 Completes and reviews written performance evaluations of all subordinate as hospital policy requires.
2.23 Schedules and conducts monthly meetings with subordinates, submits meeting minutes to the Director, Environmental Services.
2.24 Ensures that all work/assignments are carried out according to the departmental Policy. Continually expresses and explains the
importance, purpose and context of this Policy.
2.25 Others as directed.
3. EDUCATION
3.1. Essential:
High School Graduate or equivalent
Completed a course in Housekeeping functions or willing to do so.
4. EXPERIENCE AND OTHER QUALIFICATIONS
4.1. Professional Experience:
4.1.1. Essential:
1 year supervisory experience or 2 years as a
Housekeeper at an above average level.
Ability to train and supervise people.
4.1.2 Desirable
Possess the desire to cooperate with other departments.
Must be able to follow written and/or instructions.
4.2. Specialized Knowledge/Experience:
4.2.1 Essential:
Must be able to read and write legibly. Ability to operate all equipment utilized by departmental personnel. i.e.; vacuums, extractors, buffers, sanders, etc.
4.2.2 Desirable:
Certificate as General housekeeping.
