Job Location : QATAR
Qualification : BSc Chemistry / Diploma in Chemistry or equivalent in a technical discipline.
Experience : Minimum 10 years experience in a chemical laboratory at sewage or wastewater treatment plant, including at least two years in a General Technician position.
Job Description:
- Plans and develops analytical procedures regarding short and long planning as directed by the Sr. Operations/ Maintenance Engineer Sewage Treatment Plant (STP).
- Participates in the day-to-day activities of the Sewage Treatment Plant Laboratory.
- Performs sample analysis and tests of routine and non-routine nature including samples of all effluents and discharges.
- Liaise through Sr. Operations/ Maintenance Engineer (STP) with environmental and other authorities to ensure testing and entire operation of the Sewage Treatment Plant conforms to QP and Qatars Environmental Regulations.
- Submits report to Sr. Operations/ Maintenance Engineer (STP).
- Takes samples such as raw sewage, treated sewage effluent, samples from Sequencing Batch Reactor (SBR) and aerobic digester for testing, under carefully controlled conditions in order to ensure that samples are representative.
- Works under the guidance of Sr. Operations/ Maintenance Engineer (STP) to carryout routine and non-routine analysis of variety of samples.
- Performs quantitative and qualitative chemical analysis of sewage treatment products such as: Treated sewage effluent& sludge, other Samples from SBR, Aerobic digester and report results to Sr. Operations/ Maintenance Engineer (STP).
- Checking the quality and concentrations of various chemicals visually and using specialized equipments and preparing standard solutions and Reagents to carry out the required tests and calibration of apparatus.
- Calibrates, operates and arrange maintenance for sophisticated laboratory apparatus such as Thermo reactor, spectrophotometer, pH meter, conductivity meter, Muffle furnace, oven, incubator and temperature gauges. Report list of lab: apparatus to be calibrated annually to Sr. Operations/ Maintenance Engineer (STP).
- Ensures strict adherence to safety and first aid practices and keep abreast of the latest safety practices. Ensures that safety systems like Overhead/ Face Shower are in working order.

- Prepares periodic reports of number and type of analysis such as Hydrogen Pouvoir (pH), Conductivity, Total Dissolved Solids (TDS), Total Nitrogen, Nitrate Nitrogen, Total Kjeldahl Nitrogen (TKN), Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD), Biological Oxygen Demand (BOD), Ammonium Nitrogen, Phosphate Phosphorous, Total Suspended Solids (TSS), Dissolved Oxygen, chlorine, Total Coli form Sludge Volume Index (SVI) and Mixed Liquor Suspended Solid (MLSS) carried out in the lab
