Job Profile
 
PROCESS ENGINEER 

The successful candidate will possess strong refinery operations and process engineering experience. The process engineering should be in unit monitoring and optimization. The candidate must have excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively. The successful candidate is expected to spend 40 to 60% of their time in the refinery, directing, and working with other process engineers and coordinating with operations and maintenance personnel on optimizing the plant.

The incumbent is expected to contribute to a positive working environment with a continued commitment to safety. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Provide plant engineering support in optimizing, troubleshooting and overall improvement of unit operation
  • Develop, communicate and execute process metrics and KPIs to optimize process operational performance
  • Supervise the development and maintenance of HYSYS simulation models for major refinery units, including Visbreaker, Crude, Vacuum, Platformer, and Isomax
  • Coordinate with the Planning and Schedule group to supervise process engineers is support for LP model for production planning purposes
  • Participate in the planning of the annual capital expenditure program
  • Facilitate the transfer of technical knowledge related to process optimization through mentoring and training to junior Process Engineers. Strong verbal communication skills are essential
  • This position entails minimal process design/modeling and is primarily a support role to Operations and Planning & Scheduling.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Chemical or Process Engineering Degree required
  • Minimum 8 years experience in a refinery, gas processing plant, or organic chemical plant as a unit monitoring/optimization engineer. Experience as a process design engineer or unit startup engineer does not meet this qualification.
  • Must have at least 5 years as a process operations engineer.
  • Previous experience in the operation of one or more of the following process units: Visbreaker, Crude, Vacuum, Platformer, or Hydrocracker.
  • Previous experience with LP modeling preferred
  • Previous experience with HYSYS programming required
