Experience: 6 to 10 yrs.
The appointee may be responsible for and will work as part of a team, in one or a combination of the following sections of the Library: the provision of library information services to meet the needs of on-campus and distance education students, staff and general users; the acquisition of library materials, gifts and exchange; assisting in the production of library publications and other products; training of staff; cataloguing and classification of library materials according to AACR2 and the Library of Congress Classification Scheme, LCR1 and MARC21 in an automated environment.
Applicants must have:
- A professional qualification in Library Information Studies recognized by an accrediting body such as the Australian Library and Information Association (ALIA)
- Relevant work experience in academic libraries and proven experience in the provision of library services to distance and on-campus students and library users
- Sound knowledge and familiarity with library technology and automated systems
- Working knowledge and experience in the use of AACR2 and awareness of RDA, LC Classification and Subject Headings, LCR1 and MARC21
- Familiarity with IT and the use of the Internet, CD-ROMS and online databases
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work evening and weekend duties
For appointment to the higher salary level (Band 3), applicants must have more than 10 years direct relevant experience.
Remuneration:
The position is available for a term of three years and may be renewed subject to demonstrated excellent performance.
Salary Range:
Band 2 : F$48 388 to F$58 066 per annum
Band 3 : F$59 813 to F$78 700 per annum
(Inclusive of 15% Gratuity)
In addition to the above benefits, the University contributes 10% of basic salary to an approved superannuation scheme, provides airfare and relocation costs where appropriate
