Introduction:
Nava Bharat Ventures Limited, Hyderabad, India, through its overseas subsidiary company Nava Bharat (Singapore) Pte. Limited (NBS), is implementing a 150MW Hydro project in the southern region of Laos PDR, in Paksong, Champasak Province, namely Namphak Hydro Power Project. NBS, having 80% stake, is implementing the project along with a partner namely Kobe Green Power Co., Ltd. (KGP) (a Japanese company), having its Representative Office in Lao PDR.
The detailed feasibility studies and preliminary survey/geo-technical investigations have been completed and various agreements with Government of Laos are under finalization.
It is intended to finalize the EPC contracts and commence construction works for the Site preparatory works, for the Hydro-Mechanical works and for the Power Evacuation works by early 2015. KGP has appointed M/s Lahmeyer International (India) Pvt. Ltd. (LII) as Owners Engineer (OE) for preparation of EPC tender documentation for Namphak Project. At present, the detailed site survey and geo-technical investigation works are being carried out through a local contractor and LII has started working on the Reference Design work for finalizing the bid documents. The International Competitive Bidding for the selection of EPC Contractors is scheduled to take place in September2014.
KGP intends to recruit a Hydro specialist Engineer for Namphak Project to liaise and coordinate with the OE during the tendering stage and during the implementation phase.
Place of posting:
The selected engineer will be reporting to the Project Director and will be deputed to Lahmeyers office at Gurgaon, India till the award of EPC Contracts and will be required to visit the Project site as and when required. During the construction phase of the Project, the engineer will be deputed to the Project site.
Duties and Responsibilities:
To liaise with Owners Engineer (OE) on daily basis for timely delivery of Project Documents.
Review and comment on the reports, calculations, costing and drawings submitted by OE.
Identify any gaps in OEs deliverables and coordinate with OE to obtain required information / reports / drawings.
Provide inputs, alternatives or solutions for designs, review the draft EPC Tender documentation submitted by OE.
Experience and understanding of both open and underground estimation, planning & construction supervision works i.e experience in the supervision of construction of Power house, Penstock line, diversion structures, Tunnel etc.
Ensure drawing and documents comply with the international standards / Lao Standard.
Coordination with EPC bidders for bid review meetings, facilitate site visits and assist KGP in finalizing the EPC Contracts.
Provide technical information to EPC contractor & Lenders as and when required.
Assist in selection of Owners Engineering Consultant for the implementation phase.
Coordination with EPC Contractor for timely delivery of drawings and documents as per agreed schedule.
Coordination with Site on Technical/Quality/ Site related issues.
Monitoring of schedules and tracking of the milestone dates of the Project.
Bachelors Degree in Civil Engineering from a reputed institute
Understanding the Design and Engineering of Hydropower plants and familiarity with applicable International standards.
Membership in any professional institution will be an added advantage
Minimum of 10 years working experience in Hydropower projects
Knowledge of relevant hydro power modeling software, AutoCad as well as other CAD software will have an added advantage.
Should possess good communication skills and should be a team player
