Jimmy's prawns are prepared with a unique blend of herbs and spices, which give them the addictive taste that Jimmy's Killer Prawns is famous for.

Besides the famous grilled prawns, we have a wide selection of seafood platters, steaks, ribs, chicken and vegetarian options



This job is based in Manchester, United Kingdom. The company will sponsor you and you will arrive on work permit for 3-5 years.


In order to meet UK Visa requirement applicants must either

  • have a degree-level academic qualification that was taught in English - if you studied abroad, you'll need to apply through Ecctis (formerly UK NARIC) for confirmation that your qualification is equivalent to a UK bachelors degree, masters degree or PhD

Or

  • pass a Secure English Language Test (SELT) from an approved provider

Success for the chef will include:

  • Effective supervision of all working activity in the kitchen with particular emphasis on quality control and cooking methods
  • Delegation to and management of kitchen personnel in the execution of their duties and controls of safe and hygienic working practices
  • Deputising for the Head Chef when absent and ensuring kitchen administration is completed
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment

  • Effective management of costs, food and beverage gross profit and wage costs
  • Consistently deliver on customer expectation
  • Training and development of the kitchen team to foster a culture of continued improvement, high morale, motivation, challenge and career progression

Key accountabilities:

  • Supervision and instruction of kitchen team in preparation and assembly of finished dishes and quality standards
  • Preparation, cooking and presentation of a wide variety of both hot and cold dishes
  • Supervision of the kitchen team to ensure they comply with regulations relating to health and safety, hotel rules, safe food hygiene and handling practices and emergency procedures
  • Taking overall responsibility in the head chefs absence for all of the kitchen team
  • Ensuring food stuffs entering the kitchen are stored correctly and that stocks are rotated in compliance with food safety standards
  • When required placing food orders on behalf of the head chef and in accordance with purchasing instructions and specifications
  • Authorising acceptance of goods by signature and overseeing the correct storage of good received, adhering to food safety regulations
  • Assisting the head chef in the planning and creation of menus, adhering to cost targets and to prescribed quality standards
  • Assisting the head chef in controlling food costs and in achieving gross profit targets
  • Ensuring portion control specifications are adhered to
  • Overseeing the operation and cleaning of all kitchen equipment, ensuring it is used correctly and cleaned with correct procedures and complying with hygiene requirements
  • Assisting the head chef, ensuring all kitchen equipment is functioning properly and is routinely checked and is safe to use
  • To complete all Health & Safety and Job Skills training as required and work in accordance with company Health & Safety guidelines especially in relation to Hazard and Accident
  • Ensuring all work areas are kept clean and tidy at all times and that all food stuffs are handled in a safe and hygienic manner
  • Promoting efficiency, confidence and courtesy within the department
  • Promoting and ensure good inter-departmental relations

Experience:

  • At least 7 years experience within a commercial kitchen
  • Previous experience of leading a team
  • Natural ability to work on own initiative as well as part of a team
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast paced environment
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Cruise Ship and Hotel experience preferred
