Head of Junior School




Roles and Responsibilities


The Sun Valley School seeks a Vice-Principal for a brand-new school in Dhaka, Bangladesh. Sun Valley will be a Cambridge Curriculum School hosting students up through Grade 8 for the first year and then upgraded yearly as per the standard affiliation process. This will start during the 2023- 2024 academic year.


Reports

The Head of Junior School of Sun Valley will report to the Principal.


Duties & Responsibilities STS International School Sun Valley is currently seeking an experienced leader and inspirational Head of Junior School.

The Head of Junior will have overall charge of academics, curriculum, co-curricular activities, and educational administration of Primary School (Grade PG to Grade-4).


Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare School calendar in consultation with the Section Heads.

• To assist the Principal in allocating workload and the timetable of the School prepared by assigning the classes/subjects to the teachers seeing their qualifications, competence, experience & suitability.

  • To ensure that the Academic (Cambridge) Curriculum is planned, designed and implemented effectively. • To observe teaching methods and examine learning outcomes and ensure teachers are utilizing updated teaching materials, diverse teaching techniques and advance technology provided by the school.
  • To monitor and ensure that the quality of teaching and correction work is being maintained.
  • To ensure that the Regular Assembly is conducted properly.
  • To ensure the Academic, Co-Curricular and other Events or Programmes are planned and executed smoothly as per the Academic Calendar of the School.

• Prepare and send all school related reports including Monthly School reports, academic reports etc.

  • Prepare and send all important school notices and maintain correspondence with parents and other stakeholders.
  • Discipline students according to school policy and enforce campus rules, such as dress code and attendance policy. 3
  • Assess and evaluate Section Heads and teachers and other staff and identify areas of improvement.

• To ensure that subject In-Charges are conducting Faculty meetings on a regular basis and guiding the teaching members of their group.

• To process and forward Teachers Leave applications to HR and Student Leave applications to the Admission dept.

• To ensure School Newsletter is ready timely and put up on the website and to oversee the final preparation of the School Yearbook.

• Collaborate with teachers, parents and students to provide best education for each student and assist them in their academic and professional goals. • Participate in Learning and Training and other employment activities for teachers and staff members to create a dynamic team.

• Plan and arrange professional Development Programmes for teachers and staff and encourage them for further PD.

  • To maintain regular communication with existing parents and meet them as and when required and during all school events such as Report Card Days, PTMs, Cultural shows and other major Programmes.

• Recruit, hire, train and evaluate new teachers under the supervision of the Vice Principal and Principal.

  • Oversee School Budgeting under the supervision of the Principal.

• Coordinate and oversee special Programmes such as STEM, Robotics etc. and evaluate student participation and performance.

  • To assist the admission dept, accounts, school transport system and maintenance dept of the school.

• Oversee and monitor the School security system.

  • To ensure that the IT dept. keeps the School Website updated.
  • To resolve conflicts among teachers, staff or co-workers /colleagues and work towards maintaining a healthy and congenial working environment.

  • Prepare School Calendar in consultation with the Section Heads & Heads of Departments.

  • To get the HODs to do the Curriculum planning for their respective Departments.
  • To deal with parents regarding academic related matters of students.

v To get the teachers & Heads of Sections & Departments to maintain disciplinary standard among students.
