RESPONSIBILITIES -
Linux / VMWare System Administrator
Description:
The selected professional will be experienced in Linux and VMWare. This is a one year contract with possible longer opportunity. The ideal candidate would have comprehensive knowledge and deployment experience of Linux, VMware and storage technologies and must be able to implement, support and troubleshoot Linux/VMware/Windows/EMC solutions in a fast-paced environment. This position principally involves managing the assembly, installation, administration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of computers, computer components, and computer networks to ensure functionality and efficiency.
Responsibilities:
- Act as a subject matter expert in the implementation, support and troubleshooting of Linux, VMWARE Virtualization and/or EMC Storage technologies in a project environment
- Responding quickly to various issues as related to Linux and VMWare Engineering
- Perform Health checks of Linux systems, VMWARE, compute, and storage systems as required
- Ensure stable performance for VM environments through performance monitoring and tuning
- Ensures systems maintenance of storage and related systems
Qualifications:
- In depth working knowledge and hands on experience with Linux and VMware system administration and support.
- Demonstrated technical expertise in several of the following technologies: LDAP, DNS, DHCP, PXE Boot, NFS4, AutoFS, OpenStack cloud framework, Samba3/4, Active Directory, Cisco IOS, SNMP, Apache.
- EMC Storage experience
- Strong verbal and written communication, customer facing skills
- Strong technical leadership is required
- Any relevant certifications are a plus: Linux, EMCIE, VCP4, VCP5, VCDX.
Education/Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related discipline
- 5+ years of experience in Linux system administration in a heterogeneous (UNIX/Windows/Linux/Mac) networked environment.
Qualifications:
- In depth working knowledge and hands on experience with VMware/EMC Storage
- Strong verbal and written communication, customer facing skills, and a can- do attitude are required
- Strong technical leadership is required
- Any relevant certifications are a plus: EMCIE, EMCTA, VCP4, VCP5, VCP-DCV, VCDX, Linux, etc
- Minimum one year experience in telecommunication industry
