    Duties
    Technical writers typically do the following:
    Determine the needs of end users of technical documentation.
    Study product samples and talk with product designers and developers.
    Work with technical staff to make products easier to use and thus need fewer instructions.
    Organize and write supporting documents for products.
    Use photographs, drawings, diagrams, animation, and charts that increase users understanding.
    Select appropriate medium for message or audience, such as manuals or online videos.
    Standardize content across platforms and media.
    Gather usability feedback from customers, designers, and manufacturers.
    Revise documents as new issues arise.
    A degree in English, Mass Communication, Journalism, BE, or any other related field.
    6 years -12 years of experience in technical writing.
    Excellent oral and written communication skills.
    Excellent grammatical skills.
    Knowledge and experience working with geographically distributed teams.

    Tool Proficiency:
    Adobe RoboHelp or Madcap Flare.
    SnagIt.
    TFS or any other version control system.

    Good to Have:
    Knowledge and experience with Camtasia or equivalent for producing videos.
    Knowledge and experience with Microsoft Visio for producing explanatory diagrams.
    Certification in Technical Writing courses.
    Knowledge on the Microsoft Style Guide for Technical Publications (MSTP).

    Technical Writer Responsibilities
    Include:
    Producing high-quality documentation that is appropriate for its intended audience.
    Working with internal teams on product and documentation requirements.
    Writing easy-to-understand user interface text, online help and developer guides.
