Network Engineer for Air Niugini, Papua New Guinea

Experience: 3 to 8 yrs.

The primary purpose of this position is to ensure the smooth operation of the organizations data network in order to provide maximum security, performance and availability for the system. Network Engineer is also responsible for maintenance and support of the data communications and network systems including wireless technology of the company which involves managing systems, optimizing performance, providing management reports. 

Specific Responsibilities :

1. Proactively monitoring the network and provide statistical reports on network performance on daily basis and provide network and host based security, incident response, firewall and VPN management and administration
2. Up to date maintenance and problem resolution, patches and software upgrades, and routine hardware configuration. Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for all implemented networks
3. Configures, tests, and maintains LAN/WAN equipment, related services and environment in addition to ensuring all communication systems are up and running 24/7
4. Maximizes network performance by monitoring performance; troubleshooting network problems and outages; scheduling upgrades; collaborating with network architects on network optimization.
5. Secures network system by establishing and enforcing policies.
6. Work with internal technical team for product placement and feature improvements for reliability, availability, and serviceability
7. Work closely with vendors to t est, design, and plan for deployments of new products and features.
8. Carries out network and communications system & wireless networking technology installation and implementation providing ongoing support and maintenance.
9. Individually or as a member of a project team implements technical solutions and provide technical support on data network and communications.
10. Assist in preparation of proposals and solution presentations
11. Obtain and maintain required certifications for partnership with key vendors
12. Assist in the Disaster Recovery program and in the operational services of disaster recovery.
13. Other duties as directed by management.

Experience & Qualifications:

1. Diploma in Computing & Electronics/Telecommunications
2. Tertiary degree in IT would be an advantage;
3. Current Cisco CCNA and/or CCDA certification
4. Working knowledge of;

• VPN and Firewall
• Cisco routers and switches
• Checkpoint
• Radware
• Networking Security Systems

• Excellent customer service skills
• Ability to provide equipment and access familiarization training for IT customers
• Ability to communicate in an understandable, polite and friendly manner, both written and verbal.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to multi-task and willingness to learn new systems and technology.
• Must be self-motivated and a team player.
• Drivers license.
