Role purpose:
To support the Mercury MENA project delivery teams within the business sectors by providing concept, basic and detailed design based on client and site specific requirements for Fire Detection, Fire risk analysis and application of codes and statutory requirements, Planning, designing, and organizing projects, Rational fire designs, Active and passive fire protection systems, automatic sprinklers, smoke ventilation, fire detection and evacuation systems, Preparing and presenting technical reports, and tender documentation
Key Accountabilities:
The Senior Fire Safety Engineer (SFE) will be accountable for providing mechanical engineering solutions to the Mercury MENA (MMENA) business. The SFE will have extensive knowledge of the current best available technology, International practices, regulations and standards utilised in the Building Services industry. They will also:
• Provide technical solutions that are safe, constructible and operable
• Promote and encourage a culture that aligns with and actively supports the MMENA company values.
• Support all electrical activities within the MMENA engineering design team.
• Develop and maintain proactive and positive relationships with all key stakeholders within Mercury MENA and across the wider Mercury Group.
• Understand the importance of corporate technical governance and ensure consistent measures and standards are applied.
• Maintain the ethics and culture of the business and client organisations.
Key Responsibilities:
• To support the delivery of the business processes and systems for the business
• To support the business development, concept design, tendering, detailed design, technical standards, planning, project delivery and performance evaluation of the MEP sector fire and safety solutions.
The Senior Fire Safety engineer will be capable of the preparation of and or verification of active and passive fire protection systems, automatic sprinklers, smoke ventilation, fire detection and evacuation systems, Preparing and presenting technical reports, and tender documentation
• In undertaking these tasks they will prepare/check/verify and coordinate fire safety design solutions
• Select and appraise associated plant and equipment
• Undertake fire risk analysis
• Propose and evaluate evacuation systems.
• Liaise with supply chain.
• Carry out technical appraisals of bids.
• Integrate and coordinate fire safety system design with other disciplines.
• Report progress to the Project Manager
• Attend equipment inspections and tests
• Attend site
• Attend pre-order meetings for the equipment packages
• Support the preparation of bids
• Provide technical support to the business development team at client meetings
• Provide mentoring to the mechanical engineer grades
• Maintain Continuous Professional Development
• Keep up to date with emerging sector technologies

• MMENA Sector Managers and teams
• Third party providers

Skills Required:
Essential:
• HNC of relevant engineering study supported by a minimum of 15 years MEP fire safety engineering experience and or
• Completion of a 1st degree in engineering from a college or university of recognized standing and a minimum 11 years of progressively professional electrical engineering experience.
• Hospital Experience
• An International Driving License
• English Speaking
Desirable:
• A Chartered Engineer or have sufficient experience to apply for a chartership
• CIBSE Membership
• Member of a complementary professional institution.
• Understanding of BIM workflows
• Arabic Speaking
