Head of Technology for Dubai

One of our client is looking for the designation of Head of Technology role based out of Dubai .

Designation: Head of Technology or Equivalent

Job Location: Dubai

Years of Exp: 10+ Yrs should not be more then 18 Yrs


1. Candidates should be alpha developer in team and a Guru in Java Development.

2. Candidate should have 10 or more years of hands-on web development experience driving technology teams and decisions for successful e-commerce businesses.

3. Candiadtes is some one who led Product Engineering teams including technical Product Managers, Engineers and QA teams, either in-house or outsourced.

4. Candidates should have demonstrated success with both the waterfall and agile software development practices.

5. Candidate should be able to make key platform and architecture decisions - Ruby or PHP? Which framework?What ORM? Which database - MySQL, Postgres or Oracle? How should client handle big data -Hadoop or Cassandra?

6. Candidate should care deeply about the user experience, design and usability.

7. Candidates should be able deal with a leading enterprise e-commerce platform, own it, optimise it, and deliver our Product Road Map through it.

8. Candidate should always conscious about cutting costs without sacrificing quality at the same time.

9. Candidate should be excellent at breaking things down and calculating effort estimates for new development initiatives.

10. Candidate should be able to built, mentored, scaled and led development and QA teams.

11. Candidate should be comfortable leading teams across multiple geographies.

12. Candidate should be as much of a doer as you are a leader.

13. Candidate should automate things with scripts and automation tools whenever you can.

14. Candidate should be comfortable dealing with tight deadlines and multiple teams.

15. Candidate should be pro at monitoring system performance and taking rapid action whenever any things miss.

16. Candidate should be a great communicator and can articulate technology, technical details and challenges to a non-technical audience.


Candidate should have experienced with technologies client leverage:

1. Creating web applications that scale for hundreds of thousands of users

2. Mobile development (the pros and cons of HTML5 versus native apps) and knowledgeable on mobile frameworks (Sencha, Titanium Appcelerator, PhoneGap)

3. Relational databases (MySQL and Oracle)

4. Payment Gateways

5. The Linux server environment (RedHat, CentOS, Ubuntu)

6. The Networking layer (Routers, IDS, Firewalls, Load Balancers, VPNs, CDNs, SMTPs)

7. Web standards and web optimisation techniques

8. Java and PHP programming languages

9. HTML, CSS, JS

10. Web app security best practices

11. Code versioning systems (Git-based)

12. The Hybris B2C commerce platform (optional, but a big plus)

13. The Oracle Retail applications suite (optional, but another plus)
