- The Inspector shall exercise control of developing, documenting, implementing, executing, and assessing inspection systems and inspection procedures that will meet the requirements of API inspection codes and statutory regulations.
- Plans, schedules and implements or manages all inspection activities including on-stream, shutdown and offsite inspections
- Performs pressure vessel, piping, storage tank, boiler and heater inspections
- Provides quality control over repairs to existing equipment to ensure that repair materials and techniques, including welding methods, are done in accordance with ASME codes
- Prepares and maintains data based records and historical records related to fixed equipment inspections and keeps management informed on all inspection activities
- Inspects new equipment prior to installation to insure proper materials of construction and compliance with specifications and applicable codes
- Works with maintenance, engineering and operations to develop remediation plans
- Educates engineering and maintenance personnel on code requirements
- Tracks deficiencies until the deficiency is corrected
- Maintains Mechanical Integrity inspection procedures
- Collaborates with Purchasing to contract for supplemental inspection services such as boiler inspections
- Makes recommendations to Operations, Maintenance, and Engineering regarding repairs and/or equipment replacement.
- Supervises the maintenance of data base and historical records related to fixed equipment inspections
- Collaborates with Engineering regarding welding procedure and other Engineering specifications
- Develops repair scopes for fixed equipment and piping
- The inspector must stay current with API Standards and recommends appropriate changes to the inspection processes
- The inspector also interacts with regulatory agencies regarding mechanical integrity
- A BTech degree or diploma in Mechanical engineering
- API certification for at least one of the following codes: API 510, API 570, API 653
- 5+ years of experience in Refinery/Petrochemical sector in mechanical integrity. Experience of working with companies engaged in the production of equipment used in the oil & gas industry
- Knowledgeable of current ASME and API codes
- Unit Inspector experience preferred
