Our client, based in Lagos Nigeria is a global trading company with an active presence in Europe, Africa, Middle East and Asia, specialized in supplying Nigeria and West African clients with globally sourced products and services that are critical to laying the foundations for a modern economy. They deal in Steel ,Chemicals, Grains, Foodstuffs (salt, sugar, rice etc.) and Animal feed to its various clients on request, agricultural inputs from fertilizers to tractors and Agriculture -Contract farming. The company has an extensive partnership network to ensure accurate, on-time and cost effective delivery. A strong growth outlook for the area will result in substantial expansion in years to come
Roles and Responsibilities
- Examining bank statements and reconciling them with general ledger entries
- Keeping an eye on incoming payments from accounts receivable and outgoing payments from accounts payable
- Creating company financial reports with the above information included
- Analyzing data collected in order to determine the state of the company’s financial health
- Analyzing data to understand where the company is generating and losing revenue
- Examining the proficiency of the software programs used to organize data.
- Preparing all monthly, quarterly and yearly tax reports and ensuring that necessary filings and payments are completed on time.
- Perform treasury function including handling and controlling of payments to vendors and handling of cash.
- Managing the company assets register.
- Ensuring that insurance cover for all assets is adequate and are in line with organizational requirements.
- Working with team members and management to complete any other duties as may be required.
Desired Candidate Profile
- Working knowledge of corporate tax laws.
- Proficiency in Accounting Software (Tally and ERP) and Microsoft Office suite.
- Candidate must be willing to relocate to Lagos, Nigeria.
- Manage all accounting transactions
- Prepare budget forecasts
- Publish financial statements in time
- Handle monthly, quarterly and annual closings
- Reconcile accounts payable and receivable
- Ensure timely bank payments
- Compute taxes and prepare tax returns
- Manage balance sheets and profit/loss statements
- Report on the company’s financial health and liquidity
