Position Context

• Manage the requirements and design of electrical modules and components related to safety, body and interior electrical systems.

• Conduct thorough design reviews to ensure strict safety and quality standards are maintained.

• Collaborate with safety and validation specialists to ensure the implementation meets requirements and customer expectations.


Position Overview

• Develop requirements and specifications for suppliers which align with vehicle level requirements and electrical architecture.

• Clear and effective communication with other departments and suppliers to ensure potential issues are discovered and resolved quickly.

• Develop clear plans to meet project milestones and execute as per the plan.


Position Responsibilities

• Supplier management and technical guidance.

• Technical specification and SOR creation / maintenance.

• Product maturation leadership, guidance and support.

• Perform Design-Review-by-Failure-Mode and capture all actions to mitigate project and safety risks.

• Development timeline management.

• Component Data, Release and Change management.

• DV and PV Test criteria standard development.

• Cascade and capture requirements to and from stakeholders in the safety, interior and closures departments.

• Understand and adhere to automotive-specific compliance requirements and automotive industry standards.

• Perform root-cause analysis on issues identified during validation and vehicle builds.


Desired Candidate Profile


Technical skills required

• Bachelor Degree in Engineering or Equivalent.

• 8+ years of experience based at automotive Tier 1 supplier or OEM.

• Experience in airbag control systems and body control systems.

• Awareness and experience on automotive product development cycle.

• Knowledge of electrical architecture and system integration.

• Basic knowledge of Passive Safety and Function Safety.

• Knowledge of vehicle serial data communications (i.e. CAN, GMLAN, LIN, or ETHERNET).

• Excellent problem-solving skills.

• Demonstration of depth of knowledge in a relevant technical specialty.

• Strong cross-functional communication and collaboration.

• Ability to learn quickly, starting with little information and quickly becoming an expert in your domain.

• Strong planning skills, including communicating action plans with suppliers.


Technical skills desirable

• Understanding of airbag development process and vehicle level sign-off for production

• Understanding of CAN matrix design and diagnostics for electronic modules.

• Knowledge of electrical system integration.

• Knowledge of verification and validation process (component, bench, and vehicle-level testing).

• Knowledge of NCAP requirements.

• Knowledgeable in automotive software: CANOE, CANape, CATIA, CODEBEAMER.
