Quality Control Engineer for Al Solb Steel Co., in Jizan, Saudi Arabia

 JOB TITLE:      QUALITY CONTROL ENGINEER
REPORTS TO: HEAD OF QUALITY CONTROL

PREFERED CANDIDATES WITH EXCELLENT BACKGROUND FROM STEEL INDUSTRY.

Role Purpose :
* To provide technical leadership to the Quality Control operation and act as the Quality Control arbiter for raw materials, work in progress and finished goods in order to ensure that customers are consistently provided with conforming product.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

1.) Use specialist engineering skills and techniques to evaluate production process QC results and identify appropriate action to be taken in order to enable the achievement of consistent product conformance

2.) Provide metallurgical clearance to the production process in cases of alterations to the production plan in order to support the achievement of optimal cost, quality conforming product

3.) Identify and develop improvements to QC testing standards, policies and procedures in order to support continuous improvements in QC operating performance

4.) Make modifications / adaptations to testing equipment and/or processes in order to achieve optimum QC support to the production process

5.) Identify and recommend QC testing equipment for procurement, perform technical evaluation of equipment and suppliers and ensure effective commissioning and follow up where appropriate

6.) Undertake technical training and development for QC Department employees in order to ensure that all employees have the necessary technical skills to perform to the required standard, both now and in the future

7.) Act as technical support for analysts on non-routine QC issues, applying specialist skills and knowledge to ensure problems are resolved quickly and effectively

8.) Ensure sample and test records and other technical documentation are strictly maintained in line with ISO9002 and ISO14001 requirements so that non-conformance is maintained and accreditation is maintained

9.) Liaise with external auditors during ISO9002 inspections, ensuring the clear demonstration of equipment, processes and methods across the Department and supporting the ongoing possession of the ISO9002 accreditation

10.) Investigate customer product quality claims, identifying and analysing the root cause of the claim and reporting results to management in order to ensure that  AL SOLB STEEL- JIZAN SAUDI ARABIA  quality reputation is maintained

11.) Liaise and communicate effectively with other Departments, attending and reporting regularly to management meetings in order to ensure that QC provision meets the ongoing needs of the production process

12.) Support the effective implementation of ERP through liaison with production personnel in the diagnosis of engineering related QC issues in order to support consistent achievement of conforming product and production plant efficiency

13.) Participate in Quality Control Circle activity, reviewing, evaluating, recommending and implementing improvement ideas as appropriate so that all relevant processes are continually improved

14.) Prepare reports on the full range of engineering related QC issues in order to support the effective operation and/or improvement of the ERP; BSC; QC Circle and general Department processes

15.) Prepare and propose annual budget figures for management approval that accurately represent anticipated costs and enable effective cost management

16.) Perform the QC Department internal environmental audit in order to ensure that corporate environmental standards are consistently met

QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS


* University degree in Metallurgical Engineering or Chemical Engineering
*  5-8 years post graduate experience in steel production or similar metallurgical production environment
* In depth specialist skills and knowledge in own engineering specialism plus well developed knowledge and understanding of the entire production operation
* Comprehensive understanding of QC techniques, processes and procedures
* Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of safety, environment and quality system procedures and standards
* Well developed analytical skills
