We are urgently recruiting talented individuals to fill our current vacancy for Health and Safety Officer - Construction to work on our prjects in Doha, Qatar .
Objectives:
Fulfilling a middle management level role within team, providing leadership and mentoring to the team members in the field ofsafety. To actively pursue international best practice and encourage the contractor to implement and maintain a high level ofsafety. To carry out and document all Safety Audits, required by Local Authorities and Hyder’s Safety System and prepare monthly reports detailing Safety performance
Duties and Responsibilities:
Review and assess safety provisions in the contractors Work Method Statements
Carry-out, record, document and issue daily, weekly & monthly site safety inspections and reports
Carry out H&S inductions and presentations
Prepare all accident and near miss safety reports
Deputise for the Senior HSE Advisor as required.
Review ‘Permit to Work’ applications
Check proper maintenance and operation of all safety equipment
Review, assess and report on site security, fire, First Aid and welfare facilities, and procedures appropriate to the Works are provided and properly maintained.
Prepare and issue Safety Violation Notices
Carry out accident and near miss investigations
Assist and participate in construction related site safety training
Set a high personal example of Health and Safety at all times.
Qualifications and experience:
Successful completion of a relevant Diploma/Certificate in appropriate Civil Engineering discipline from a recognised Tertiary Institution.
Postgraduate qualifications from IOSH, NEBOSH or AHSE will be highly regarded.
Minimum of five (5) years postgraduate experience Knowledge of BS design standards
Minimum of three (3) years full time related experience in the construction industry
Familiarity with BS and international standards
Good written and verbal communication skills.
An ability to identify potential problems and propose solutions
Ability to team build, organise staff and prioritise works
Ability to work well within and lead a site based team of mixed nationalities
Experience in Microsoft applications
Ability to build rapport with work colleagues.
Preferably possessing a valid Safety Training Certificates from a recognised organisation.
Experience in supervising/managing Safety preferably in the construction field of piling / reinforced concrete / structural steel / road construction / bridge construction / drainage / water supply / HVAC / electrical installations
