Assistant Train Driver for Saudi Arabian Railway Company

    Urgently required manpower for Saudi Arabian Railway Company engaged in Construction of Railway Facilities for Transports of Goods (Minerals, Coals & other Raw Materials) to the important Industrial Cities. 

    PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES: 
    -This position involves all duties and responsibilities associated with the movement of trains and other associated rail mounted equipment on the SAR rail network. An employee in this classification is responsible for carrying out those functions pertaining to the safe, courteous and efficient operation of assigned vehicles and to act at the direction of the train driver.
    -Responsibilities include but are not limited to routine operations, special operations, recovering from on board vehicle failures of a minor nature, exercising prudent judgment under a variety of conditions which may occur during a given turn of duty.
    -Ensure trains encompassing EMD locomotives and wagons are fit to travel at all times.
    -Assist the maintenance function into and out of shop building for repair or servicing and perform other duties required to support maintenance functions including wagons to spot locations.
    -This is a safety critical position subject to the rules / regulations and examination.
    -Ability to pass the SAR physical examination by obtaining a Saudi Arabian residence permit and demonstrate physical ability to perform job duties to include: throwing rail switches, coupling/uncoupling EMD locomotives.
    -Ability to successfully complete the SAR Operator Training Program in order to be certified and retain a thorough understanding of all new rules and procedures which are in effect. 
    -Ability to effectively communicate, both orally and in writing, while interacting with customers and SAR staff in a courteous, professional manner. 
    -Ability to read, write, and speak English.
    -Demonstrated physical ability to perform job duties to include: throwing rail switches, coupling/uncoupling EMD locomotives and wagons.
    -Maintain a thorough knowledge of rules and associated instructions.
    -Be on the look-out for line side obstructions (Sand/Level crossings/Road vehicles) and verbally inform the train driver in sufficient time to enable the driver to take evasive action etc ensuring that the line remains clear to enable smooth passage of trains.
    -Ensure that the safe operation of your train at all times.
    -Ensure that all manually operated turnouts are set correctly and secured prior to the movement of a train passing over them and that the turnouts are replaced (If appropriate) to their former position following the transit move.
    -Assist the driver when attempting to recover from on board vehicle failures of a minor nature, exercising prudent judgment under a variety of conditions which may occur during a given turn of duty.
    -To work as directed by the driver.
    -Ensure Safety procedures are understood maintained (and recorded. where appropriate) 
    -Read and understand all publications applicable to the position.
    -Adopt proactive approach to operational incidents.
    -Maintain written records and compile reports as directed.
    -Remain vigilant at all times.
    -Maintain locomotive cleanliness.
    -Must maintain professional composure at all times
    -Work unusual hours, split shifts, weekends, holidays, and overtime as required.
    -Performs visual inspection of trains before beginning service in addition to an end of service inspection following arrival at Ports or mines.
    -Operate manually all track switches and other wayside equipment as appropriate

    Essential requirements:
     
    -Ability to maintain a high performance level of dependability, reliability and safety as demonstrated in the past six (6) months by reference documentation by last organization
    -Ability to decipher train running consist for service and able to alter consists as determined by schedule requirements. 
    -An equivalent combination of education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, and other characteristics consistent with required qualifications to drive locomotive hauled service trains.
    -Minimum: High school diploma or greater 

    Desirable:
     
    Ability to drive road vehicles
