Senior Technical Safety Engineer for Oman

    Role in the Contract:- To carry out front end definition & studies technical safety input to engineering projects in support of the development of new and existing oil, gas and water handling facilities.

    General requirement- Fluent spoken and written English and ability to prepare clear concise reports and conduct discussions with The Company/ vendors, prepare minutes and effectively close-out pending issues. Must have sound basic skills in relevant branch of Engineering. Some Field experience in commissioning or operations is preferred.

    Specific Requirement- Must have sound skills in technical safety engineering applications and hands on experience in using special purpose software.

    Principal Accountabilities- To provide guidance on levels of risk, appropriate risk mitigation measures and demonstrations of ALARP.To be the technical authority for safety engineering systems, fire/explosion hazards and protection systems, emergency facilities and life saving equipment. To be the focal point for project HSE deliverables including the QRA study, HSE Case and HEMP studies. To act as focal point for industry and client learnings-from-incidents and incorporate learnings into design projects. To review any technical safety work carried out by third parties (vendors), and to participate in, and in some instances lead, safety workshops (e.g. Hazops, Hazids, layout and design reviews) To act as lead discipline engineer of projects managing discipline design teams of designers and engineers.To understand the requirements of the office quality systems and ensure these requirements are met. Senior Engineers to actively train and encourage the development of Omani staff to fulfil technical safety engineering roles.

    Challenges-To ensure that effective controls are in place to manage risk from all Process Safety hazards to a tolerable and ALARP level. To strike the right balance between the application of conventional and new technology.
    Qualification requirement- Degree in Engineering (B.Sc./M.Sc./B.Eng.), and membership of internationally accepted applicable professional institute.

    Experience level needed:- For Senior Engineers a minimum of 12 years of experience in production or engineering of oil & gas facilities, which includes a minimum of 7 years experience in Technical Safety engineering in the hydrocarbon processing industry.
    For Engineer minimum 8 years of experience in production or engineering of oil & gas facilities, which includes a minimum of 5 years experience in Technical Safety engineering in the hydrocarbon processing industry.
