- The main purpose of the Project Commercial Managers job is to manage commercial activities in the assigned Business Unit in order to minimize commercial risks and protect ESECs commercial relations with concerned stakeholders
- Principal Accountabilities
Contributes to the review of prepared main Contract / Subcontract proposals
Supports Operations in the planning and budgeting of newly awarded projects
Ensures continuous updating of project quantities based on construction developments, including VOs, completion of detailed design, etc., and passes on the updated quantities to all concerned (primarily Operations, Procurement, and Cost Control)
- Prepares correspondence to clients regarding progress certificates / invoices / VOs
Assists in the negotiations of VOs and financial claims submitted by subcontractors
Ensures timely assistance to Operations in the substantiation and documentation of VOs and claims
Assists in preparing correspondence to clients regarding financial claims
Reviews and controls invoices and associated correspondence submitted by subcontractors
Identifies deductions / retentions to the subcontractors invoices and coordinates with subcontractor to amend invoices
- Ensures that all items in the Checklist for Subcontractors Final Payment have been fulfilled
Negotiates settlements with subcontractors for compensation that is not claimable under main contract
Launches the Vendor VO issuance process, and updates the log to indicate closure of the subcontractor RFV
Ensures applications for payments are issued in a timely manner
Prepares periodic commercial reports
Works closely with Operations, Planning, and Cost Control to ensure timely and accurate reporting
Ensures maximum support to Operations and Quantity Surveyors on project sites for the timely preparation of invoices
Assists Operations in the training and development of Site Quantity Surveyors
Identifies and tracks KPIs for the Commercial Unit, and devises plans and initiatives for improvement
Provides support for the professional development (including training) of direct reports
- BE, B Tech Civil, Masters preferred
Excellent leadership, interpersonal, communications, presentation, and negotiations skills
Excellent organization / project management skills, and a proven ability to motivate and manage teams
Minimum 8 years experience in Contracts & Commercial in a comparable sized operation
Good knowledge of international principles of measurement
Good knowledge of variations and claims mechanisms / practical cases
Experience in the Middle East is a strong plus
Fluent in English and preferably Arabic language
