Fire and Safety Technician

Experience: 5 - 6 yrs. 

Opening: 24

Carry out inspection and maintenance of fire fighting, detection and monitoring equipments, to the standard and performance set by the Department.

Responsibilities:
- Demonstrates knowledge and application of the HMC mission, vision and values.
- Carry out preventive maintenance and repairs of fire fighting equipments installed in the hospitals and accommodation complex such as fire extinguishers, fire hydrants, hose reels, sprinkler systems and component equipments, ensuring accurate and full documentation of every activity.
- Assist the Fire and Safety Officer and/or Supervisor in the preparation of materials to be used in lectures and demonstration for the hospital staff.
- Responsible for implementation of safety procedures relating to his own work and that of helpers that maybe assigned to him.
- Write material requirements of jobs off parts catalogues and working drawings.
- Must be able to work thru diagrams and working drawings.
- Must be able to work independently with minimum of supervision.
- Complies with HMC policies and procedures; and in particular infection control, safety and quality management.


- High School Diploma, Plus Technical / Vocational certificate (Mechanical or Electrical)
- Preferred: Diploma in Engineering with training on fire-fighting preferred

Required certification/licensure:
- Fire fighting certificate preferred

Experience:
- Essential: 2 years in related field.
- Preferred: 5 years in similar position.

Fire Safety Officer

Experience: 5 - 7 yrs. 
Opening: 4 

Responsibilities:
- Demonstrate knowledge and application of the HMC mission, vision, and values.
- Identifies potential safety or hazards, takes actions or makes recommendation to eliminate hazard.
- Conduct fire inspections, reviews building plans, and conducts fire scene investigations.
- Oversees various fire suppression technology annual service contracts as well as the development of evacuation plans for all HMC buildings.
- Works closely with facilities, planning and project management in review of plans and specifications to ensure they meet all applicable laws, codes, and standards.
- Design and update and implements safety education programs.
- Secures compliance with fire prevention codes, lows and standards through plan reviews, inspection and code enforcement.
- Prepares written reports for building projects administrators on finding from plans, highlighting areas requiring attention.
- Inspects and prepares fire safety reports on existing building.
- Contacts audit inspections and test of fire safety codes and standards.
- Represent fire safety in facility safety committees.
- Ensure that all installed fire and safety equipments comply with the relevant local and international (NFPA, JCAHO etc) codes, standards and regulations and that necessary periodic installation test are carried out for continued compliance.
- Coordinate with the fire brigade to acquaint the latter with the hospitals layout, fire plan and all matters related to the fire brigades, need to provide and effective fire fighting service to the hospitals and other HMCs facilities.
- Prepare long and short terms plans pertaining to fire and safety systems and equipments in order to meet and in accordance with the strategic plans of the department and the hospital.
- To develop and implement policies and procedure to ensure the effective operation and maintenance of safety equipments, fire fighting system and accident prevention schemes.
- Responsible for organizing and regular training of the hospital staff in fire precaution, drills and other matters concerning safety.
- To participate in the hospital disaster and safety committees and the preparation and periodic review of emergency preparedness and evacuation plans.
- Submit yearly capital equipments, manpower and tools requirements for the section or unit as part of the department’s annual budget preparation program.
- Complies with HMC policies and procedures and in particular infection control, safety and quality Management


- 3 years University degree in Engineering OR Health and Safety OR Health Management OR Science.
- Preferred: Certificate in fire brigade leader.

Experience
- Essential: 5 years in fire and safety field.
- Preferred: Experience as a fire engineer

Safety Instructor

Experience: 10 - 12 yrs. 
Opening: 3 

Responsibilities:
- Demonstrate knowledge and application of the HMC mission, vision and values.
- Design and coordinate a staff training safety program based on HMC and employee needs.
- Use questionnaires and surveys in consultation with managers and staff to analyze training needs as they relate to the goals of the HMC and work area.
- Develop training resources, which may involve preparing notes and visual displays from researched information or their own knowledge.
- Conduct safety training courses in hazard fields such like fire, hazard materials, radiation etc, which may involve demonstrating equipment operating video recorders and camera and leading group discussions or role-playing activities, or coordinate with experts from other departments to do so.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of training programs, using surveys, questionnaires, interviews and observation, ini order to plan future course or to amend existing ones.
- Obtain information on work-related external courses, prepare reports on their suitability and make recommendations on staff attendance at training courses
- Compile training manuals
- Review and update the education materials
- Organize and coordinate the training schedule with different department to cover all HMC staff
- Coordinate the attending and re attending for the staff to the safety training
- Provide job safety development sessions for existing staff and conduct induction sessions for new employees
- Coordinate work experience programs with schools and organize career talks to school groups.
- Complies with HMC policies and procedures and in particular infection control, safety and quality management


- Bachelor degree in health care administration
- Minimum of 10 years experience

Required Certification or Licensure or Registration:
Certification in education of the related field of speciality (fire, hazard materials radiation)
