Food & Beverage Technical Manager for Costa in Bahrain


    Work Experience

    Minimum of 6+ years of experience in the food service or food manufacturing industry, covering at least two or three of the following roles: Food or Beverage Product Development, food technology, ideally some food or beverage procurement and some experience in a middle management operational role. 

    Work experience should be able to illustrate 

    Key Areas

    - Ability to understand food trends and translate these into successful food development plans and concept or product briefs

    - Ability to understand and develop recipes or product specifications and communicate these to suppliers

    - Ability to develop training materials and able to train large groups and develop in store teams on food and beverage

    - Understanding of food development and ability to taste and determine flavour profiles, providing clear instructions for development to meet briefs and consumer tastes 

    - Experience in food or beverage supplier tender processes and contractual agreements, either writing and managing them or replying to them

    - Ability to project manage a number of projects simultaneously and deliver them successfully to the brief, on time and in budget

    - Experience to assess and analyze projects, product launches or competitors in market, writing analytical reports and developing strategic recommendations

    - Experience in successfully managing suppliers either on a food related procurement level or on a food or beverage product development level

    - Ability to work within a budget 

    - Ability to audit to a pre-agreed standard and provide action plans to meet standards and able to deliver strategic plans for safe food

    - Working comprehension of local food laws and Costa requirements

    - Ability to write planograms and maintain a continual cycle of brand aligned, market competitive food offer from a Costa approved supply base.

    - Be able to source and manage a Costa approved supply base

    - Experience in coffee retail shops preferred

    - Have good knowledge of the local market and country legal compliances

    Desirable Areas

    - Experience in developing food service operational manuals

    - Understanding of food production and service ideally in sandwich, bakery or beverage related industry 

    - Experience in food or beverage merchandising 

    - Working knowledge of quality management systems and supplier approval procedures

    - Good oral and written communication skills
    - Good level of creativity in food and an understanding of food and food production
    - Analytical, logical with an ability to think laterally
    - IT and systems literate
    - Effective communicator at all levels
    - Ability to inspire loyalty and influence colleagues at all levels both internally and externally
    - Team player and leader
    - Good supervisory and performance management skills
    - Effective management of a multinational team desirable
    - Results driven within the framework of company procedures and systems
    - Product Costing
    - Product sourcing
    - Clear understanding of local Food Hygiene & Food Safety Legislation 
    - Overseas experience and travel an advantage
    - Must be English speaking either as a first or second language
