Plant Supervisor for Kurdistan, Iraq

Job Summary and Scope of Responsibilities

Responsible for the safe and optimum operation of the LPG Plant by monitoring and controlling production plant and equipment, protective systems (Fire & Gas / ESD) and all support and utility systems, to ensure all Gas / LPG and NGL products are as per required specification.

Act as issuing authority for PTW, manage and direct all plant activities controlled under the system.

Ensure operational and maintenance activities are conducted in accordance with Operational and local Procedures.

Operate the plant and deliver core maintenance work to meet business targets of HSE, throughput, cost and reliability and satisfy customer requirements.

Provide leadership and develop the skills and competency of the shift team members.

Seek and deliver continuous improvement opportunities.
Makes suggestions for the improvement of plant operations and procedures.

Actively participate in safety meetings.

Actively participate in the Operations Emergency Control Team.

The ability to work under strained situation with cool mind and ability to handle panel in different scenarios demanded by situation.

Strong analytical & trouble shooting skill.

Ensures that the Company HSE Policies and Procedures within his area of authority are adhered to. 

Primary Duties and Responsibilities-

Directing the shift operation team to meet business needs by working in a safe and environmentally correct manner.
Provide coaching and mentoring to ensure subordinates are trained to meet all operational requirements.

Ensuring appropriate control mechanisms, procedures and processes are followed in accordance with the Operational Procedures.

Ensures emergency safety equipment and protective systems are functional at all times.

Contribute to the process planning and execution of plant maintenance shutdowns and Start-Ups.

Seek and deliver continuous improvement initiatives and where possible manage the delivery of these initiatives, involving other parties as required.

Develop the skills and competence of the shift team.
Conduct regular performance appraisals of all team members

Act as competency verifier for new starts.

Manage the initial response to Plant emergencies.

Approves monitors System Overrides and Inhibits as required to safely control work. Records the same in the designated Safety Logs. Ability to understand P&ID’s and Cause Effects.

Ensures compliance with Permit to Work and HSE 
Regulations and Procedures.

Participate in Operations, Safety and maintenance meetings.

Decision–making Authority

In the absence of the Production Superintendent: Shutdown all or parts of the Khormor Plant when abnormal running or unsafe conditions arise or have been identified.
Working and Other Reporting Relationships

Work closely with Operations Superintendent, operations personnel and truck loaders. Maintenance, pipeline operations and Engineering department.

Initial contact with external groups e.g. – Emergency Services and Contractors.
Supervisory Responsibility

Manage / direct personnel out in the field and personnel working under the Permit to Work system.


Minimum Qualifications

Engineering or technical qualifications or trade equivalent.

At least 15 years working in Oil and Gas Operations. Gas Plant and LPG Plant experience essential, 5 years as Supervisor.

Ability to communicate in English, both verbally and written.

Good organizational and planning skills.

Good communication skills.
