Civil and Structural Engineer for Afghanistan

 Qualification

  1. Have a degree in civil/structural engineering.
  2. Have preferably 10 years of experience working in development/rehabilitation of transmission lines, substations and grid systems.
  3. Experience in Afghanistan and other post-conflict environment are desired.
  4. As a practicing engineer, the expert must be proficient in identification, analyses and resolution of problems and effective planning, organizing, estimating, scheduling and monitoring of project activities.
  5. Should spend at least 70% of time in Afghanistan/field.

Project Duration- 1 Year


Responsibility

  1. Be responsible for civil/structural engineering including detailed design for 500kV transmission lines.
  2. Plan, design and oversee the construction, installation, operation and maintenance of electric components systems, and facilities used 500kV transmission lines.
  3. Assist in diagnostic testing of components and systems, and engineering studies.
  4. Review and confirm structural design of foundations and structures for transmission and distribution power systems including physical layouts, structural/site layouts and associated civil calculations.
  5. Confirm that design package complies with applicable transmission engineering design standards and all safety codes
  6. Ensure all transmission line commissioning protocols are planned, coordinated and duly implemented
  7. Provide on the job training (OJT) to counterpart engineer on field of expertise.
  8. Provide input on the field of responsibility to inception, interim, draft final and other reports.
  9. Review and approve erection and construction drawings to ensure technical compliance and compatibility with specifications and other requirements.
  10. Supervision, inspection and monitoring of the civil works of the project to ensure that the works are carried out in accordance with the agreed schedules, design and specifications, and that the quality meets, at the minimum, the required standards, specifications, systems and procedures.
  11. Supervision, inspection and monitoring of the installation and erection of the equipment and materials at the project site, and the required tests, trial operations and the complete commissioning program described in the scope of works of the EPC contractor.
  12. Any other works not sufficiently described in the scope of services, but can be reasonably inferred as required and necessary to be undertaken to complete the project are presumed included in the scope of works of the contractor.
