Sr. Director - Chemistry

Job Location: Germany

Client: Trusted German Pharma, Biotech & Chemicals Chemistry CRO

Job Profile:

• Supervise several chemistry R&D teams.
• Develop, Co-ordinate and execute research efforts on multi-step synthetic projects.
• Multi-step synthesis and process development with stage-gate management.
• Understanding of DOE processes, emerging process development tools and capabilities including computational modeling and simulations.
• Independently coordinate and manage collaborations and CRO operations.
• Analyze, interpret, and organize data to prepare clearly articulated experimental reports and communicate the results of the projects at internal and external meetings.
• Understanding of organic chemistry/chemical technology, chemical engineering unit operations, Project management and cost estimations for new process technologies.
• Coordinate and drive programs at the global level.
• Present reports to Management Team, Supervisory Board and Clients
• Proactively engage with business partners, local, regional and global leadership to understand the challenges, opportunities and come up with proactive solutions to drive growth.
• Develop next generation of subject matter experts & technical capabilities.
  

Desired Candidate Profile

• M.Sc / Ph.D (Synthetic Chemistry / Organic Chemistry / Pharmaceutical Chemistry).
• 15 -20 years in R&D and innovation leadership experience.
• Experience in organic synthetic chemical organizations (desirable).
• Strong experience in multi-step synthesis and process development with stage-gate management.
• Minimum 5 yrs. mid-level leadership and 8 - 10 yrs with people management experience.
• Person should have aged between 40 to 45 years.
• Have strong project management skills with the ability to work and track multiple projects.
• Understanding of DOE processes, emerging process development tools and capabilities including computational modeling and simulations.
• In-depth skills / understanding of organic chemistry/chemical technology, chemical engineering unit operations, Project management and cost estimations for new process technologies.
• Must be a catalyst of change.
• Demonstrate ability to think creatively and strategically.
• Have safety / health and environmental awareness.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively, with both technical and non-technical individuals in an international context - with collaborations in multiple geographic regions.
• Must be able to coordinate and drive programs at the global level.
• Have strong troubleshooting and networking skills.
• Strong computer skills are a must to extract, evaluate data, and make sound technical decisions.
• Be decisive. willing to make decisions with available information.
• Travel to global or local locations when required to pursue job accountabilities.
• Pursue external engagement with customers whenever required.
• Be an excellent motivator & team player.
