    MISSION
    The Audit Manager is responsible for the execution of the risk based audit approach and leading audit teams during the fieldwork and being the team leader. The Audit Manager reports to the Partner. In addition, the Audit Manager will assist the Partner to prepare the necessary training material, in business development, provide non-assurance services and support on administrative matters.

    PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 
    • Ensuring that all the jobs are included in the job planning schedule and either the team leaders or the field team leader has contacted the client to agree the audit timeframe and other logistics, including organising for a kick-off meeting; reviewing the audit plan for Partner approval; supervising the audit team and reviewing the work thereby ensuring that the work carried out by the team is in accordance with the audit plan, RSM Audit Methodology and Quality Assurance and Risk Containment Policies; within the budgeted time; and ensuring that the key engagement issues are identified and resolved on a timely basis.
    • Checking for any conflict on GRT at the proposal stage and before the firm accepts any engagements and ensuring GRT is updated where required.
    • Ensuring that the rapport with the client is maintained and that the firms values are reflected in each engagement carried out.

    • Performing administrative tasks (client delivery, billing and collection, productivity, staff mix etc.) to ensure the audit portfolio maintained is efficiently managed.
    • Reviewing the job planning schedule, scheduling staff to engagements and updating this on a weekly basis and ensuring that staff are supervised and occupied.
    • Maintaining the work-in-progress register for all engagements and reviewing this on a weekly basis with the Partner.
    • Training and developing the skills of staff in the department, including preparing training material.
    • Identify cross-selling opportunities for the firms services and leading in its marketing initiatives. 
    • Carrying out administrative duties and any other tasks as may be delegated from time-to-time.

    OUTCOMES 
    1 . Managing a portfolio of clients based on a billing target as communicated at the start of each calendar year and delivering high quality audit and other assurance services, achieving an annual productivity of at least 60%.
    2 . Managing the project efficiency by ensuring the following:
    not less than 95% recovery on jobs;
    work-in-progress is recognised correctly;
    follow up on collection and minimising debtors balance to less than 60 days; and
    timely billing in order to ensure the net investment in clients (work-in-progress and debtors) is not more than 90 days.
    3 . Ensuring that the firm and the team meet the independence requirements from the proposals stage, during and after all engagements.
    4 . Compliance with Quality Assurance and Risk Containment Policies.
    5 . To be seen as a role model to the audit team.
    6 . Ensuring that planning meetings are held with the audit team with input from the Partner.
    7 . Briefing the audit team on the audit plan and, in consultation with the field team leader, allocating the responsibilities to each member.
    8 . Ensuring that the client acceptance/continuation is completed and signed off prior to the commencement of the audit and all other planning sections are completed and signed off by the Partner within 48 hours of commencement of fieldwork.

    9 . Understanding the client needs, their business and key risks, meeting and exceeding expectations, adhering to reporting deadlines and adding value on each engagement. 
    10 . Supervising the team, reviewing working papers on a timely basis, provide coaching, ensuring audit conclusions are well-documented and ensuring that the file (including the financial statements, management letter, and draft letter of representation) is ready for Partner review within a week of fieldwork completion or as communicated by the Partner and clearing review queries within a week or as agreed.
    11 . Identifying engagement and tax issues and communicating these, as they arise, to the Partner, including escalating any complex issues to ensure that these are resolved before completion of the fieldwork.
    12 . Ensuring that the work is performed to the required standards resulting in not more than 10 review queries being raised by the Partner on each engagement and producing deliverables that require minimal changes by the Partner. 
    13 . Responding to client correspondence/queries within 24 hours or such time as agreed with the client and ensuring the clients are updated of the engagement progress on a regular basis.
    14 . Ensuring that jobs are completed within 4 weeks of completion of fieldwork.
    15 . Ensuring that the files are wrapped up within 60 days from sign-off of audit report, or earlier, where required.
    16 . Coaching, training and contributing to development of audit staff.
    17 . Addressing complaints from audit staff and clients and ensuring that these are resolved on a timely basis and the resolution communicated to the Partner.

    18 . Communicating timely and developing a solid rapport with the clients to ensure that their expectations are understood and ensuring positive feedback is received on all engagements in terms of delivery and value addition.
    19 . Actively developing technical skills on the job and through formal training and complying with the firms CPD requirements. Obtain certification for all the IFRS modules on IFRS Fundamentals.
    20 . Providing engagement de-brief to the team and ensuring performance appraisals are completed (including providing feedback to all team members) on all jobs above 40 hours by the time the financial statements are sent for client signature and also ensuring that quarterly evaluations are concluded on a timely basis.
    21 . Preparing the proposals specific to the Request For Proposals and identifying opportunities to bring in revenue of at least USD 100,000 per annum.
    22 . Assisting with the interview process to identify A-players to fill in the positions of Audit Associates, Audit Semi Seniors, Audit Seniors and Audit Supervisors.
    23. Being part of the team that develops technical newsletters/articles/bulletins communicating changes to professional standards.
    24. Being part of the team that organizes client seminars and leading a session during the seminar
