Drilling Operations Engineer




A. Company is looking for a Drilling Operations Engineer. The successful candidate will provide technical support and advice to clients in using advanced drilling software developed by the company. In close collaboration with the client engineering team and under the supervision of the Lead Drilling Operations Engineer. they will monitor multiple wells in real-time, identify and escalate inefficiencies in drilling performance, collect and analyze drilling data, and prepare pre/post, real-time well reports. Software and services provided are related to the field of drilling engineering, such as drilling mechanics, BHA modeling, Torque & Drag, Buckling, Casing Wear, Fatigue, Dynamics, Drilling Bit Performance, Well Planning.


RESPONSIBILITIES:


Specific duties may include but are not limited to:

  • Technical support in drilling engineering (BHA modeling, Torque, Drag, Buckling, Fatigue, Casing Wear, Dynamics, Drilling Bit performance, etc..) to clients
  • Monitor multiple rigs in real-time to identify performance optimization and risk mitigation opportunities. Perform engineering analysis, provide updates, and run engineering simulations with DrillScan software under the supervision of the Lead Drilling Operations Engineer.
  • Monitor drilling performance and escalate alerts pertaining to shocks & vibrations, MSE, Torque and Drag, and adherence to recommended operating procedures.
  • Prepare the pre/post and/or real-time well reports with support of the Lead Drilling Operations Engineer
  • Develop strong relationships and maintains regular contact with clients

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:


Basic qualifications:

  • Experience in utilizing drilling engineering software
  • Extensive knowledge on EDR monitoring with a good grasp for trend analysis
  • Excellent communication, presentation, negotiation, and client relations skills
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize tasks quickly and effectively
  • Willingness to learn and adapt
  • Independent and self-motivated individual
  • Effectiveness in problem solving
  • Basic knowledge of MS Office (Outlook, Excel, Word and PowerPoint)


WORK EXPERIENCE:

  • 2-4 years experience in the oil & gas industry
  • Rig-site experience
  • Work experience in exploration or oil field service companies in roles like MWD/LWD engineer, directional drilling engineer, mud logger, drilling optimization engineer, well planner and drilling engineer

LANGUAGES:


Required: English


Preferred: English/Arabic


TRAINING:


Company will offer technical training


TRAVEL:

  • Valid passport
  • International travel required
  • Rotation will be 4 weeks on / 2 weeks off.
  • Must be willing to work for extended periods of time on a 12hr shift rotating schedule to support 24/7 operations.
  • Ability to easily obtain a visa for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, Oman, and Qatar
  • Ability to access client facilities


WORKING CONDITIONS:


Predominate working conditions will be in the clients office completing shift work on nights or days. There will be no trips out to a rig site.


PHYSICAL DEMANDS:


Work normally requires finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination to operate computer keyboard at moderate skill level. Work may require occasional pushing, pulling, or carrying 20-pound objects such as files, documents, and computer print-outs. Work involves sitting most of the time but may involve standing and walking for brief periods of time.

In close collaboration with the client engineering team, they will monitor multiple wells in real-time and identify inefficiencies in drilling performance, collect and analyze drilling data, and deliver pre/post, real-time well reports. Software and services provided are related to the field of drilling engineering, such as drilling mechanics, BHA modeling, Torque & Drag, Buckling, Casing Wear, Fatigue, Dynamics, Drilling Bit Performance, Well Planning.



RESPONSIBILITIES:


Specific duties may include but are not limited to:

  • Technical support in drilling engineering (BHA modeling, Torque, Drag, Buckling, Fatigue, Casing Wear, Dynamics, Drilling Bit performance, etc..) to clients
  • Monitor multiple rigs in real-time to identify performance optimization and risk mitigation opportunities
  • Perform engineering analysis, provide updates, and run engineering simulations with WellScan, LiveScan, or WebScan software and transfer these results into actionable items for rig teams, monitor for their implementation, and ensure the sustainability of the performance improvement
  • Enhance drilling performance through the implementation of parameter roadmaps, monitoring of shocks & vibrations, MSE, and adherence to recommended operating procedures.
  • Prepare and present the pre/post and/or real-time well reports to clients
  • Develop strong relationships and maintains regular contact with clients
  • Manage, lead, and mentor a team of real-time engineers
  • QC, review, and validate all reports and analysis from the team prior to their distribution to the client

In close collaboration with the client engineering team, they will mostly complete and deliver pre/post drilling engineering reports based on the customers needs. Occasionally, they will monitor multiple wells in real-time and identify inefficiencies in drilling performance, collect and analyze drilling data, and deliver real-time well reports. Software and services provided are related to the field of drilling engineering, such as drilling mechanics, BHA modeling, Torque & Drag, Buckling, Casing Wear, Fatigue, Dynamics, Drilling Bit Performance, Well Planning.
