Shop Foremen (Haiti)

Experience:  10 - 15 Years

For an Automobile and Avis rent-a-car franchies looking for:

Position: Shop Foremen

Reports to: Service Manager

Interacts with: Technician / Service Advisor / Customer


Responsibilities:

The Shop Foreman oversees all aspects of the day to day running of the Shop, and is responsible for the cleanliness, order and efficient operation of the department. He must protect the interest of the company and at the same time deal fairly with his technicians. The Shop Foremans highest priority is to satisfy the Service Department Customers, and his actions must always contribute to the customer having a good Work Shop experience. He must be able to work with people, to motivate and to maintain a calm and productive environment. He is responsible for all work entering or leaving the shop.


Duties:
a. Assisting Technicians in effectively performing their jobs on a day to day basis including providing the latest technical information, assisting with difficult repairs, and assisting in the proper use of special tools and equipment.
b. Instructing technicians in self check procedures which can help to eliminate comebacks.
c. Supervising and Training apprentice employees.
d. Monitoring the quality of work in progress.
e. Assisting Dispatch in distributing the jobs based on priority and technician skill level.
f. Communicating with the Service Manager, Dispatch and Warranty personnel for filing warranty claims.
g. Test driving all vehicles before and after service for drivability or noise complaints to ensure repair quality is of the highest standard.
h. Conducting final quality inspections.
i. Maintaining and enforcing workshop housekeeping and safety standards.



Qualifications, Requirements, Abilities, Attributes:

At minimum, the Foreman should have the following:

1. Trade School Diploma and 10 years of experience in auto mechanics.
2. Last 5 years experience working in a aoupmotive Dealership Environment - and must have had factory training in auto electronics.
3. Certified Master Technician would be a plus.
4. Advanced knowledge of vehicle electronic components, theory, systems, and testing tools and procedures. Proficiency using Scan Tools.
5. Computer literate.
6. English language skills (bilingual in French would be a plus)
7. Skill in diagnosing and repairing all key vehicle systems and components.
8. Knowledge of proper procedures for handling hazardous materials.
9. Knowledge of proper procedures for using tools and equipment.
10. Knowledge of the proper procedures for ensuring the Technicians own safety, the safety of his co- workers, and the safety of customers and their vehicles.
11. Personnel management skills - require the ability to understand and deal with different types of people.
12. Administrative skills require the ability to supervise and take decisions.
13. Planning and control skills require the ability to manage and control work flow and schedules.
14. Physical strength and agility; physical condition commensurate with the demands of the position.
15. Ability to read, interpret, and properly evaluate Repair Orders and department efficiency, productivity, and performance reports.

Standards: Performance

At quarterly, semi annual and annual intervals, employees performance will be evaluated against the following performance standards.

1. Department Productivity and Efficiency performance are at, or above, the established goals.
2. Comebacks are at, or below, established goals.
3. Punctuality in reporting to work.
4. The tidiness and cleanliness of the Work Area.
5. Review of customer or employee complaints.
