Safety & Security Officer and Production Manager in Al Manaratain, Bahrain

JOB SUMMARY:

Responsible for the smooth production with minimum break downs and ensure proper maintenance of plants and machineries in Aker site for optimum production and delivery.

* DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Operates the site as a Profit Center Head.
- Draws up a weekly production plan in conjunction with the sales plan and is responsible for implementing and achieving the agreed production plan in terms of Product, Quality and Quantity.
- Confers with production and administrative personnel and reviews production and operating activity to determine changes in programs or operations if required.
- Identifies and evaluate products and product and product lines thereof to ensure business synergy and compatibility with the company’s businesses.
- Coordinates activities of division or departments i.e. operating, manufacturing, engineering, planning, sales, maintenance, quality control, recruitment, etc to effect operational efficiency, economy, and increased productivity.
- Reviews operating results of the factory, compares them to established objectives and takes steps to ensure that appropriate measures are taken to correct unsatisfactory results and identifies areas in which cost reduction can be made.
- Ensures that the respective factory activities and operations are carried out in compliance with local and federal regulations and laws governing business operations.
- Overseas maintenance of plant building and coordinates and maintenance schedules for equipment and machinery.
- Manages maintenance of stock control records and information such as consumption rate, characteristics of items in storage, and current market conditions to determine stock supply and need for replenishment.
- Manages preparation of requisition orders for indenting of stock.
- Establishes operational procedures for activities including verification of incoming and outgoing materials, handling and disposition of materials and keeping the factory inventory updates.
- Plans storage areas considering turnover, size, weight and related factor of items stored.
- Initiates the purchasing of equipment, material, supplies and tools at or below budgeted limits.
- Making arrangements for maintaining the files and records of the site or department in a manner that ensures their proper order and easy retrieval and confidentially.
- Directs salvage of damaged or poor quality stock.
- Coordinates with sales and logistics staff for orders and delivery.
- Checks daily stock (raw material and final product) report (checking with yard foreman at Aker).
- Checks on daily basis with supervisors for attendance, daily production and requirement of spare parts for maintenance and repairing.
- Follows up the delivery of raw materials to the factory.
- Follows up daily testing results for the finished products and raw materials with the quality control manager.
- Carrier out trial mixes concrete and blocks.
- Follows up with ministry of works and housing for approval of ready mix concrete and any new product.
- Follows up with government bodies for any new product. (Ministry of transport, electricity, water.)
- Follows up with the suppliers (local and international) for the raw material, spare parts and lab equipment's.
- Does the necessary change in the production plan according to the urgency of some orders.
- Responsible for all safety issues and welfare of employees in the respective site including the Labour camps. Coordinates with the safety manager in enhancing safety awareness to employees through adequate training, lectures, toolbox talks, brochures and other related inputs.
- Prepare accident reports (in case of accident) and doing necessary investigations in coordination with safety manager.
- Follows up any breakdown at site and take necessary action to rectify the problem.
- Does all the calculation for the cost of product.
- Negotiates with the suppliers of the materials.
- Maintains good housekeeping standards.
- Attends exhibitions and conferences relating to the job (when requested for that).
- Coordinates with HR dept. regarding personnel matters including recruitment process.
- Overseeing induction of news recruits on to their job, planning, assigning and directing work to direct subordinates, disciplining employees, addressing complaints and resolving problems.
- Ensures that responsibilities, authorities and accountability of all direct subordinates are defined and understood.
- Responsible for day to day man management of all personnel deployed at site.
- Studies and standardizes procedures to improve efficiency of subordinates.
- Motivates team to work together in the most efficient manner.
- Resolves team conflicts and communication problems.
- Evaluates the results of the overall operations of all departments and systematically reports to Chairman.
- Coordinates with the sales department to solve customer complaints by taking corrective action.
- Carries out feasibility study and projection of profit and loss analysis for seeking management approval for expansion, new products lines, purchase of new machinery and other business opportunities.
- Executes new project work, plans and revises as appropriate to meet changing needs and requirement.
- Participates and promotes organization in industry, manufacturing or trade associations.


* MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

- Bachelor of Civil Engineering.
- Registered as a member in the Committee for Organizing Engineering Professional Practice (COEPP).
- At least 5 years in Civil Engineering preferably on Ready Mix Concrete and Block production.

- Physically strong.

Job required working in office with AC & at work site (Hot, Dusty and noisy).


Safety & Security Officer

* JOB SUMMARY:

Following up any issue related to Safety and Security with the related Ministerial Organs, and coordinating with the site safety representatives (Managers and Supervisors) in order to assure that the company is following the current legislation as per the Bahraini labour law and its complementary legislations. 

* DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Inspecting regularly all production, erection and construction sites, including and Al Manaratain properties, as per weekly schedule for safety and security aspects and ensuring availability of methods of protection from employment risks and damages.
- Inspecting regularly all labor camps and ensuring that good housekeeping and healthy living conditions are available.
- Inspecting accidents and injuries, reviewing, analyzing, registering and writing report about them containing the means and precautions ensuring the avoidance of their recurrence in the future.
- Preparing statistics about employment injuries and serious accidents according to the business requirements and as required by the relevant authorities.
- Following up the maintenance and availability of fire prevention facilities and fire extinguishers and liaise with service supplier the delivery of the same and prepare required documents. 
- Monitoring the periodical inspection of safety equipment and appliances and ensuring the recording of results in special registers.


- Reviewing and analyzing the work sites and equipment used therein for determination of their risks arising there from and methods of protection there from.
- Choosing the appropriate kinds of personal protection equipment (PPE) for the workers so as to ensure their protection from the work hazards, and coordinating with the Managers and supervisors to assure they are delivered accordingly to the employees. 
- Enhancing the workers’ prevention awareness and enlightening them about the occupational hazards and methods of protection there from by holding seminars, delivering lectures, distribution of posters and preparation of occupational safety leaflets.
- Giving Safety induction training for all new employees joining the company and registering the same accordingly.
- Following up the behavior of new employees during the probation period with regards to safety and security aspect.
- Preparing and attending occupational safety committee meetings.
- Acting as rapporteur of the Safety Committee writing accordingly safety meetings minutes.
- Following up the treatment of injured people at the hospital on the day of the accident as well as preparing and submitting required documents to GOSI and medical committees for payment of compensation money and follow up the same with the related parties.


- Preparing daily inspection report regarding visited sites as well as power point presentations on monthly basis or when requested to do so.
- Checking the sites for any weak security points or situations and reporting the same to the related managers and supervisors regarding and suggesting solutions.
- Monitoring CCTV cameras and retrieving records of the same from time to time and /or when requested.
- Follow up with police directorate or other governmental parties regarding security or safety matters.
- Conducting research on the Internet and other sources of information regarding Safety and security matters.


* QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

NEBOSH certificate, Diploma in fire and safety engineering.


Minimum 3 years as Safety Officer.

* SKILLS :

- Able to make risk assessment identify hazards and make effective recommendations for right action and correction.
- Knowledgeable with respect to the national legislation with respect to occupational safety.
- Able to organize and prepare meetings.

- Able to give & receive constructive criticism in a positive manner, quick learner.
- Computer and internet research skills.
- Good written and spoken skills in English and Arabic languages.
- Able to prioritize work demands and coordinate work activities being organized and time managed especially under stress.

* WORK CONDITIONS

Job requires working for prolonged hours in front of the computer and in air-conditioned areas and periodical visits to the working sites.
