Farm Manager for Sri Lanka

The candidate should have an agriculture degree or diploma with at least 5 years practical experience in large scale farming.
Must have a proven record on estate manangement and is able to demonstrate that capacity.
An ideal candidate will be a technical expert with skills in;-
a. growing cane, factors that influence cane yield, sucrose deposit, impact of root system to plant growth, key stages of growth in sugar cane.
b. mechanical planting techniques and the parameters that need to be worked on to get limited mortality rates and good germination.
c. fertigation, cost control of fertilisers without compromising on yields
d. yield improvements, able to manage & control factors that influence yield improvement to optimise input cost and deliver max yields.
a. variety evaluation, conducting trials and record keeping.
f. Understands the elements of weather and the impact it has on the crop, for the benefit of the sucrose yield .
g. pest management and control & good knowledge of pesticides. Knowledge about IPM (integrated pest mgmt.).
Must possess good team building skills and good English communication skills.
Knowledge of agriculture equipments and maintenance requirements and knowledge of operating principles of the machines/equip together with estate planning, would be helpful. Fluency with inventory controls & Ms office tools is essential.

Education B.Sc-Agriculture

Experience (in figures) Min: 8.00 yrs Max: 15.00 yrs

1. The candidate will be responsible for organising and scheduling field activities for timely completion of planting, harvesting, weeding, spraying etc. 
2. The candidate will aggressively pursue the goals and objectives set by the company and systematically delegate work and posses a monitoring mechanism to get feedback of the tasks as they get completed. 
3. The candidate will be required to prepare annual budget for Agro dept and monitor variances on a regular basis and control costs in the agro dept.
4. The candidate will be managing the estate and responsible for the man management and administration.
