Senior Maintenance Engineer - Printing and Packaging





Roles and Responsibilities


  • To facilitate the logging of all breakdowns on the appropriate recording system
  • Carrying out any maintenance works required across the facility both reactive and planned preventative maintenance
  • Fit new parts and ensure equipment is working correctly with minimal disruption to production
  • Monitoring of stock and ensuring that parts are readily available as and when required
  • Experience of Comexi flexographic printers, Simplex Print Machine, Bimec slitter rewinders
  • Deal with emergencies, unplanned problems and repairs
  • Ensure that all work is conducted in line with the Companys BRC standards of hygiene and workplace tidiness, aware of 5S standards
  • Advance troubleshooting and diagnosis of equipment malfunctions
  • Arrange specialist procurement of fixtures, fittings or components
  • Control maintenance of tools and storage of equipment
  • Provide technical support and training on new equipment to operators
  • Scheduling of preventative maintenance and planned shutdown works
  • Available for out of hours emergencies which may arise or plant breakdowns
  • Monitor and control of maintenance costs and expenditure
  • You have a responsibility under the Health & Safety at Work etc Act 1974 to take reasonable care of yourself and other persons that may be affected by your acts or omissions at work, secure the health, safety, and welfare of your staff at work and protect, so far as is reasonably practicable, all others against risks to their health or safety arising from your work activities, those of their staff and ensure that your duties are discharged adequately. The responsibility to achieve the duty cannot be delegated. The tasks required to discharge them can be delegated; assistance and support can be obtained; but the responsibility remains with you

Desired Candidate Profile

  • Qualification within Engineering
  • Proven work experience as a maintenance engineer within a print packaging environment
  • Aware of BRC Code of Practice
  • Able to work on own initiative
  • Good attention to detail and an ability to problem solve and work on own initiative
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement activity
  • Manage and deal with change in a fast moving and demanding environment whilst still maintaining standards set within the business




Senior Quality Manager



Roles and Responsibilities

  • Safety must always be a prime consideration and you are required to ensure that the safety of people, the environment and our products are never compromised
  • You have a responsibility under the Health & Safety at Work etc Act 1974 to take reasonable care of yourself and other persons that may be affected by your acts or omissions at work, secure the health, safety, and welfare of your staff at work and protect, so far as is reasonably practicable, all others against risks to their health or safety arising from your work activities, those of their staff and ensure that your duties are discharged adequately. The responsibility to achieve the duty cannot be delegated. The tasks required to discharge them can be delegated; assistance and support can be obtained; but the responsibility remains with you
  • Lead, Motivate and Develop the Quality Team on all Quality related aspects within Modern Packaging including continuous improvement, maintenance and performance of the Quality Management System.
  • Drive compliance and continuous improvement, assisting in identification root cause analysis, corrective action and improvement actions
  • Investigate any customer complaints, rejections and any issues with products
  • Preparation and review of Quality documents including those of 3rd parties
  • Carry out regular internal audits to ensure all systems and standards meet the current BRC global standard and any other customer technical requirements
  • Ensure visibility and traceability of documented evidence is monitored and maintained
  • Offer Quality guidance, direction and instruction to Modern Packaging employees to develop and improve understanding of the Quality Management System
  • Develop effective implementation of appropriate HSE procedures in line with changes in Legislation and the Company Directives, embed safe working practises
  • Effective reporting and communication with direct manager to drive and manage overall compliance and achievement of the site H&S and environment objectives and KPIs
  • Implement appropriate KPIs and review of data trends across the business to identify and act upon opportunities that make sustainable improvements to safety, quality and performance
  • Implement practical and effective methods, both preventative and remedial, of promoting H&S, safe working practices and awareness in the workplace, to promote safety and enhance the HSE culture
  • To audit, maintain and review appropriate control measures in order to comply with legal and regulatory requirements
  • Coordinate incident investigations where required, monitor safety concerns, near misses, accidents and RIDDOR; ensuring full investigation and recommended actions are taken to prevent re occurrence
  • Carry out site inspections, safety walks and audits, providing advice and support to line management where corrective actions are required
  • Manage the Health and Safety function and H&S Committee. Co- ordinate with Human Resources to ensure trained Fire Marshal and First Aider representation


Desired Candidate Profile

  • Experience of working in a fast-moving manufacturing environment, preferably packaging
  • Solid experience in BRC requirement and maintenance of the accreditation
  • Quality Management experience or Quality Supervisor/Team Leader minimum of 5 years
  • Intermediate HACCP qualification
  • NEBOSH diploma in Occupational Safety & Health or equivalent
  • Auditor trained
  • Confident with MS Office applications
  • Excellent attention to detail, communication and interpersonal skills
  • Organised, Positive outlook, practical and logical approach to tasks
