The School of Accounting and Finance is one of the largest within the University of the South Pacific and offers programs in accounting, banking and finance at under and postgraduate levels. The School has over 3500 full-time students from twelve different island nations and fifteen different cultures. The School has over thirty-eight full-time academics who are actively engaged in research.
 

The Opportunity:
 

  • The appointee will teach degree level courses across the accounting curriculum, preferably in two of the following areas of financial accounting, auditing, public sector accounting or information systems.
  • The appointee will also be expected to contribute to teaching through the distance education mode at other University Campuses within the Pacific Islands.
  • The appointee will also contribute to the Schools postgraduate programs, including masters and PhD supervision.
  • A Professor is expected to exercise a special responsibility in providing academic leadership and in fostering excellence in research, teaching, professional activities and policy development in the discipline, within the University and within the community.

The position is available for a term of three years and may be renewed by mutual agreement.

The Person We Seek:
  • Applicants must have a PhD in the area of expertise from a leading university.
  • All applicants must have significant research publications in leading international journals, demonstrate active interest in research work and have extensive tertiary teaching experience at both postgraduate and undergraduate level.

Preference will be given to applicants with experience in distance education and those with professional qualifications in accounting and those that demonstrate administrative experience. The level of appointment will depend on qualifications and experience. 

Remuneration
:
The position is available for a term of three years and may be renewed by mutual agreement.
Salary Range: 

Professor-                     FJ$115, 248 to FJ$124, 592 per annum
Associate Professor-  FJ$99, 311 to FJ$111, 726 per annum
                                         (Inclusive of 15% Gratuity)

An inducement allowance of up to 50% may be paid to attract an exceptionally qualified candidate. 
In addition to the above benefits, the University contributes 10% of basic salary to an approved superannuation scheme, provides airfare and relocation costs where appropriate.
