- Focal point for the financial status of all projects under his supervision.
- Be accountable for any financial information relating to his projects which he or his team has produced.
- The senior QS must help his colleagues in the Contractor team understand the role of the quantity surveyor and provide any training that maybe required.
- Be able to provide an objective and substantiated valuation of his projects at short notice at any point in their life cycle.
- Provide all required support to the Lead QS, the project engineer, planning engineer and the site construction team during the currency of any project. Supervise, delegate duties and control the timely delivery of support given by any subordinate staff which he has been assigned.
- The senior QS must visit his projects as often as possible to ensure all scope deviations/changes are identified and accounted for. Ensure the lead QS is immediately informed of any potential issues his team encounters that could impact on the financial Integrity and delivery of a project.
- Ensure that any computer software used in the conduct of the quantity surveying function is used properly and that appropriate training had been given by the company.
- He should also ensure any subordinate staff are adequately trained and that they are supervised until such time they achieve the required competence.
- All reports required by the business services manager and/or lead QS must be completed in the required format and must be submitted by any prescribed deadline.
- All QS functions described in the Company contract must be complied with in full.
- If Contractor processes are implemented for such functions these must also be followed.
- All SAP related activities must be conducted in accordance with all instructions given by the SAP team.
- The senior QS must ensure that he and his team comply in full with the Contractor QS code of conduct.
- The senior QS is expected to understand the Company contract.
- He must also ensure his team are spending sufficient time on becoming familiar with its contents, especially those parts that
- relate to QS activities.
- The senior QS must ensure the any Contractor/Company documents (including but not limited to drawings and work/test packs) are not unduly held up when being used to complete QS functions.
- The senior QS must endeavour to optimise recovery of revenue within the confines of the Company contract.
- The Senior QS is expected to challenge when required by any of his counterparts in either Contractor or Company but it must be objective and fully substantiated. The senior QS is responsible to ensure any site produced estimates are formulated to the standard required by the Contractor estimating team.
- Any estimates produced by other members of his team must be checked for compliance.
- The senior QS is responsible to ensure all QS activities are fully auditable - this includes the retention of all documents produced by the team on an assigned server.
- The senior QS must maintain a harmonious relationship with his team members, his Contractor colleagues and his counterparts in the Company organisation.
- The senior QS must ensure all his projects are closed out efficiently in accordance with applicable company procedures.
