Plant Operator for Lilongwe Dairy, Malawi

Lilongwe Dairy is a leading Dairy Industry in Malawi having 72% market share. It processes fresh milk, Long life milk, Flavoured milk, Chambiko, Yoghurts, Ghee, Butter, Cheese & various types of Juices. Company is now in expansion phase, doubling the Production capacity & planning to launch various new products in the market

Responsibilities
POSITION DESCRIPTION: Operates and manages the UHT milk and juice plant alternating over 3 different shifts (including night shift). Supervises 15 to 30 employees in the aseptic production and/or processing operations of MILK and makes sure all products coming off the line have the highest quality possible. Communicates closely with previous plant specialist and production manager, and employees on production progress and pursue any problems that arise. Displays leadership abilities that help empower line employees, leads, supervisors, and manages to performance levels that contribute to the achievement of company goals. Creates, develops, and executes operational plans to hit plant targets and objectives set by production manager. Implements and follows all safety procedures as stated in GMP and safety standards.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Supervises all employees directly assigned to the aseptic production teams
Operate Tetra Pak and Elecster UHT Plant reading multiple instruments, and noting any discrepancies 
Maintains a safe and clean environment for all employees and visitors. Ensures all safety rules, plant rules, GMP are followed by employees at all times
Deploys employees in positions to ensure smooth production and executes a shift plan to ensure adequate staffing at all times
Is able to problem shoot, problem solve and root cause analysis of any plant and product deviations, detailing corrective and preventative actions. Is a key participant in the quality assurance system of the company and ensures compliance of products to specifications
Communicates SOP and plant rules to all production team members, ensures that they are implemented and strictly adhered to ensure maximum output of the production plan
Ensures that only the highest quality products are produced
Meets production indices and yields as specified by the operational goals

Desired profile of the candidate 
Competent in Tetra Pak and Elecster packaging machine platforms, including UHT Sterilisers and Aseptic Tanks maintenance experience and training
Works excellently in teams to trouble shoot, root-cause analysis, and problem solve in unforeseeable events to constantly produce the highest quality product possible
Engages and supports others in projects, shows respect and appreciation for the efforts of others
Ability to create, design, and implement improvements to current procedures
Knows all safety rules, plants rules, GMP and codes of ethics
UHT Processing experience required, Tetrapak filler experience required, Aseptic experience preferred
Equivalent combination of education, experience or training that would provide the level of knowledge, skill and ability is acceptable

Qualification Should have minimum Diploma in Electrical / Mechanical Engineering

Required Skill Set Experience and knowledge of Microsoft applications, knowledge of an ERP systems will be added advantage

Min. Exp. 4 years experience at Dairy Plant operation
Max. Exp. 10 years at a Dairy Plant operation
