Singapore National Eye Centre (SNEC) was incorporated on 3 March 1989 and commenced operation in October 1990. It is the designated national eye centre within the public sector healthcare network. SNEC spearheads and coordinates the provision of specialised ophthalmological services with emphasis on quality education and research, with a faculty of close to 80 ophthalmologists. SNEC is part of the Singapore Health Services (SingHealth) academic cluster of four hospitals, five national specialty centres, eight primary healthcare polyclinics and three community hospitals. Since its opening in 1990, 10 subspecialties have been established to provide a full range of eye treatment from primary to tertiary levels for the entire spectrum of eye conditions

The Clinical Research Fellow will be involved in the running of our Child and Adult myopia clinics in SNEC main centre and at SNEC Eye Clinic @ Bedok. He/she will also be actively involved in clinical related research activities, such as publishing of research outcomes, drafting research reports and presenting research findings and papers at academic and professional conferences.

Requirements 

  • Basic medical qualification and/or higher qualification(s) in ophthalmology recognized for conditional registration with the Singapore Medical Council
  • Must be experienced in most aspects of clinical ophthalmology
  • A demonstrated familiarity with principles of clinical research studies
  • A good command of English
Duration: 2-year contract (renewable)

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Report scientific outcomes and strategies to the Theme PI , project investigators and Collaborators to support the successful development, coordination and management of the program
  • Support clinical studies under the Myopia Centre
  • Conduct and coordinate clinical research in Myopia Centre
  • Grade and interpret Imaging studies
  • Assist in management of these research projects, which includes supervising post-doctoral research assistants, research students, technical and other support staff (if any)
  • Publish and disseminate research outcomes in appropriate journals of international standing and other reputable outlets
  • Assist to draft research reports
  • Attend and present research findings and papers at academic and professional conferences, and to contribute to the external visibility of the department
  • Attend and participate in meetings (where necessary) and other committees and working groups within SERI/SNEC
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety in all aspects of work
  • Undertake such specific roles and management functions as may be reasonably required by the Director
