The nature of the work varies by location and media of distribution, but tasks typically involve:
    Maintaining specialist equipment for video production, broadcast and satellite transmission, and interactive media
    Setting up and monitoring audio visual links between units in different locations
    Installing and testing new facilities and equipment
    Setting up and operating editing facilities in post-production suites
    Analysing and rectifying technical faults on equipment and systems
    Minimising loss of service at times of equipment failure by rapidly identifying and implementing alternative methods of service provision
    Keeping abreast of constant changes in technology by investigating new systems, techniques and equipment
    Setting up and operating equipment and transmission links during outside broadcasts
    Designing and installing custom audio visual circuits
    Designing and manufacturing new circuits, hardware and systems
    Directing and coordinating operation and maintenance activities for Digital Microwaves Links, fiber optics equipments, radio & television broadcasting equipments
    Performing acceptance Tests for Microwaves Links, fiber optics equipments VHF, UHF Television transmitters, Medium Waves Audio Transmitters and Frequency Modulation Audio Transmitters.
    Very good practical knowledge of Test & measuring equipments as (Digital storage oscilloscopes , spectrum analyzers, RF vector network analyzers, universal frequency counters and wide band monitoring receivers).
    Experience with Broadcast Automation, Archive Management Systems, Data Tape Storage.
    Experience with Video Servers, HD SDI and AES Processing, EIA 608/708 CC Encoding. 
    RF Experience with Satellite Uplink Transmission and Advanced Encoding Technology.
    Establishing procedures to operate transmitters equipment
    Interpreting readings and indicator lights on transmitters equipment, control console and waveform monitors.
    Tuning and adjust various transmitters to ensure signal emissions within standard masks to obtain optimum operational performance of transmitting equipment.
    Diagnosing causes of transmitter malfunctions and performing various testing and measuring procedures for transmitters equipment.
    Developing plans and prepares schematic drawings designed to modify and improve existing transmitter equipment (if needed).
    Directing and coordinating equipment modification activities to prevent interruptions in transmitting operations. 
    Prepares work schedules for team of technicians in the transmission site.
    Developing and using awareness of best practice in health and safety for the workplace
    Communicating effectively with members of one's own and other teams and project members
    Keeping up to date with the industry by building and maintaining a network of contacts
    Ability to Respond to After Hours Trouble Calls and Assist in Problem Solving any On Air Emergencies. 
    Ability to work off hours including evening, overnight, and weekend shifts.
