- Summary of duties: Responsible and accountable for the efficient, professional and cost effective management of the operations of the IDC Engineering workshop which includes maintenance as applicable of mechanical, electrical, water and sewage systems
- Duties:
- Manage the day to day operations of the Engineering Workshop
- Ensure that a safe and healthy work environment exists including reliability of equipment used
- Adhere to company health, safety and environment policies and ensure full compliance with applicable legislations and to other company policies and procedures
- Ensure availability and regular maintenance of tools and equipment to cater for the needs of the operation
- Ensure that there are in place maintenance schedules of all plants and equipment pertaining to mechanical, electrical, refrigeration and shipping within IDC and the outer islands and ensure the timely implementation of these schedules
- Ensure that proper inventory systems for all equipment/tools/spare parts of IDC including the outer Islands are established.
- Liaise with Purchasing and Stores on materials specifications and orders for the workshop's operations
- Co-ordinate and monitor effective communication of maintenance issues between departments and the outer islands and maintain a good working relationship with relevant departments
- Provide training and continuous development for maintenance personnel
- Perform engineering / mechanical duties as and when required
- Produce monthly reports on the performance of the workshop
- Promote a culture of continuous improvement to systems, processes and work practices
- Liaise with Human Resource Manager for all personnel issues, including recruitments, training, appraisals, promotions, disciplinary actions, discharges and transfers
- Attend meetings and training courses as directed.
- To perform any other related duties as may be assigned.
- Minimum Qualifications and Experience
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering or any related engineering field with 5 years engineering and management experience
