ABOUT CLIENT:
A major oil and gas entity of Houston, Texas is actively looking for professionals having hands-on experience in developing well plans, drilling procedures and authorization for expenditure (AFE) documentation in accordance with industry best practices and company policies and procedures.
JOB PURPOSE AND SCOPE:
1. Works as part of a team to select the appropriate cements types and additives and assist in selecting cementing equipment and procedures to be used and the lab tests to be run.
2. Participates in selecting the appropriate bits for a predicted lithology. Analyzes bit records, review performance trends and identify criteria for bit selection and operation.
3. Assists in determining what combination of mud properties is most desirable for meeting drilling and formation evaluation objectives. Participates in selecting the most suitable fluid system and additives for optimizing the drilling process.
4. Recognizes and solves hole problems in order to avoid delays during drilling. Monitors drilling operations to ensure that well is following desired trajectory.
5. Monitors the performance of drilling rig systems and recommend methods, equipment or changes in operating parameters to optimize drilling performance.
6. Recognizes primary and secondary kick indicators, and implement initial response to well control incidents.
REMUNERATION:
An attractive remuneration will be negotiated with the successful candidates and will be in line with a competitive industry standard.
QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
1. Attains and maintain an accredited Well Control certification (IWCF or IADC, depending on company and/or regulatory requirements) for Completion and Workover Well Control at the Supervisor level.
2. Uses software applications for directional well design such as COMPASS/Anti-collision.
3. Uses drill string design software (e.g., Landmark's StressCheck application.) as a tool in establishing drill string parameters.
4. 5-7 years experience In a Drilling engineer role.
