    POSITION:-  SHOP PLANNER (Electrical & A/C) 


    PRINCIPAL DUTIES:
     
    • In addition to the Basic Requirements you will be responsible for analyzing work to be accomplished in the light of accepted trade practices, pertinent specifications, drawings, and sketches.
    • Prepares detailed plans specifications and cost estimates for the maintenance, construction, and alterations to vessels A/C, electrical, and communications distribution systems involving electrical power and light distribution systems, communications systems, generators, motors, transformers electrical control devices and instruments, wiring and similar equipment.
    • Determines amount and type of material needed. May on a regularly scheduled basis or on specific request, perform inspection on station electrical facilities including building wiring, electrical distribution systems, communication systems and other related electrical systems, structures and equipment.
    • The incumbent must be current and familiar with the National Electrical Code.
    • Prepares written reports of such inspections including extent of deficiency, major items of material required to correct them and the estimated cost including labor and material.
    • Prepares sketches and detailed working drawings as directed and where the work is complicated and requires further job description in addition to written work order.
    • Prepares specifications for facilities contracts and other contracts as directed and administers same, which includes direction and inspection of work performed by contractors.
    • Prepares specifications and shop sketches and drawings as required to facilitate accomplishment of work.
    • May as requested and/or directed assist other marine operating division where his experience and knowledge can be utilized in problem areas.

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATION: 
    1. Knowledge of electrical, air conditioning and refrigeration.
    2. Knowledge of the procedures associated with preparing job orders and work packages.
    3. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, instructions, specifications and other related materials.
    4. Ability to prepare work scope packages using computer software including EXCEL, ACCESS, WORD, MICROSOFT PROJECT and Windows NT. etc.
    5. Plans and schedules work, reviews work orders, plans and estimates.
    6. Discusses technical aspects of the work with subordinate painting electrical, air conditioning and refrigeration craftsmen.
    7. Plans the assignment of work based on overall work status, priorities, employee performance and capabilities.
    8. Communications ability, ability to supervise.
    9. Minimum of five (5) years experience in electrical, air conditioning and refrigeration trade practice
    10. Ten (10) years varied shipyard experience in electrical, air conditioning and refrigeration trade with a minimum of three (3) years experience in planning, scheduling and tracking of shipyard work trades.
    11. Fluently speak, read and write English.
